rvird01, gotta disagree. I have a dozen B cherry saplings around, and their bark is gray -- not whitish. There are many, many different cherry species out there (mostly imports) -- all w/similar-looking leaves. Below is a B cherry on my lot w/ripe fruit in mid-Sept. He is wrong. The PD fungus merely infects the developing drupelets of the fruits - it's not disseminated throughout the plant. Control - if you can achieve it - is accomplished by removing and disposing of affected fruits, and possibly by spraying with a fungicide. But... if you desire mulberry fruits, you could remove that tree and replace with a pure M.rubra, which seems to be less affected, if not immune, to infection with this particular fungal agent. PD is worse some years than others, but once it appears, it's usually there to stay. Imagine trying to find, remove and dispose of all the affected fruits on a tree 30 ft tall and 40 ft wide... I just can't get 'em all.
