Have you ever read Elizabeth Linington (Dell Shannon, Lesley Egan)?

Decades ago, I was a big fan of Elizabeth Linington and her pen names Dell Shannon and Lesley Egan. Shannon wrote a series of police procedurals featuring Lt. Luis Mendoza and his wife, Alison; and Egan wrote mysteries solved by a lawyer named Jesse Falkenstein. She also had a Vic Varallo series, but I don't remember much about that. She was a prolific writer, and had a couple of other pen names as well. Her books were set in California.

I hadn't read her in years, but recently picked up one from the Jesse Falkenstein series at a thrift shop. I'd forgotten the way so many of her characters talk--not the principals, but the people they interview. Her distinctive writing style has them speaking in long paragraphs. This time around I found myself glazing over a bit. (Could be the Lyme, which often makes it hard to track long paragraphs.)

It was fun to revisit an old favorite author, and I wondered if she had any other fans at the KT.

(The photo is one of the staged scenes my parents and their friends had fun with. This was a friend.)
