Weed with yellow flowers and clover-like petals.
Comments (16)Matt, I would gladly have a lawn of bulb Oxalis vs. grass, but it's dormant too much of the year to function that way, disappearing during the coldest & hottest weather here. Beloved ground cover around/under shrubs when it's "up" though! If your summers are less hot, might be something to investigate, a test patch. The 2 I've encountered so far are definitely hardy here, O. crassipes & O. triangularis....See MoreAnyone know what this weed is with tiny white flowers?
Comments (4)A bit more info might be helpful; what's the size of leaves & flower heads, height of plant & what does the rest of the plant look like? That said, it does resemble a 'weed' I see around here w/ white flower heads approx. 1/2" or so & resembling Gomphrena...?...See MoreNeed ID of Weed whose Flower looks like Ear of Corn
Comments (6)Once you see the butterflys and small birds it attracts you will want more. I tried for years to transplant them. I even went to one of my favorite nurseries for starts but no luck until last year when one finally took. Just be aware that they bloom on second year plants. I have found two seedlings and am hopeing for more. There is a very small wren that loves to eat the flowers and later the seeds that I have not found in any book. It appears no more than two-three inches long from head to tail. With that cocky tail it is so cute as it goes up and down the stem chasing off the nuthatch....See MoreHelp identify this weed with tiny white flowers
Comments (3)Thanks, floral_uk. That seems like a strong possibility, though none of the flowers I'm looking at seem to open as much as Cardamine's flowers. Maybe I need to give them a few days. The plants are about 9" tall which is about the same for Cardamine. I see this Cardamine is sometimes called "Sand bittercress" which would accord with these plants growing in virtual gravel. Here are several photos I just took (some of which are virtual duplicates but they look beautiful!) I'll get a good photo of the basal leaves later today....See Morebossyvossy
