Shutter question - Atlantic Premium vs. Timberlane Endurian
Comments (1)I'm not familiar with Atlantic shutters but am very familiar with TImberlane. Both my daughter and I have them. Endurian is their synthetic "maintenance free" shutter. They also make traditional wood shutters, which is what we have. We've had ours now for 14 years and they are as lovely as the day they were installed. We bought them unpainted and got an excellent paint job done on them. A year or two ago, my daughter bought her and had them factory painted (not offered when we got ours). They are flawless. I would price these - they will be significantly less than the Endurian . They are very thick, very heavy shutters, beautifully made. We chose the option of the copper caps for the top. They look wonderful (very subtle) and they help prevent water from getting down in the louvers we have on our shutters. They can make any size you want. I highly recommend Timberlane....See MoreHunter Douglas vs Norman Shutters
Comments (4)We went with Hunter Douglas split shutters - we went through a local family owned shop and they said anyone serious about window treatment and shutters only will sell Hunter because they’re the best. The guy selling Norman sold out of the back of a van and they’re made in China - they were going to take 10-12 weeks to come in. Hunter Douglas are American made and they took 4 weeks to come in. They’re also sold in a store front and you could really see them well. The quality of Hunter is a lot better for not much more money. We love our Hunter Douglas shutters we are so happy we went with them. Hunter also has a better warranty. :)...See MoreShutters: Norman Woodlore vs Norman Woodlore Plus vs Graber MDF/Wood
Comments (8)I got new shutters for my home two years ago. I went down to the local lumber store; they are cedar with an mdf inset. I'm in the Midwest and this lumber company has been selling locally made shutters for 100 years, so they know what works best here. I primed and painted them myself, bought new hardware off the internet, and had a handyman install them. Total price, about $5000. So I'd suggest a local lumber store. Or have a wood shop make them to your specifications. They are not hard to make....See MoreHunter Douglas Palm Beach vs New Style plantation shutters
