Mirrored Doors Used INSIDE a Walk-In Closet? Or . . .
Comments (2)Hi Lynn, what an awesome idea for mirrored doors to keep the shoes dust free and the close look less cluttered! If you check the link below you'll find pix of our closet in progress. I never did get final pix since we started using it and it became not so easy to photograph then. I do believe this might help you since we have our shoes at the far end of our closet with clothes on either side. What are the measurements of your closet? Have you thought about covering your clothing with bags meant to keep them dust free instead of raising them? I'm only five four and a half so my side of the closet is a bit lower than my hubbies which gave me some added storage above my double rods where he had none. Well he has the storage that goes all the way around the closet at the top, but no extra like I do. Here is a link that might be useful: Our closet pix...See MoreThere's no Closet Forum, so....Can We talk Walk In Closets?
Comments (21)Lots of really good light is necessary. Trying to differentiate between the navy blue pants and the black pants and then trying to find socks that match is hard without good lighting. I'm always having to bring my stuff out of the closet into the bedroom where the light is better to figure it out. I have a mix of hangers - padded ones for blouses, clipped ones for skirts, my Dh likes wooden ones for suit jackets and I like really strong ones for my jeans - and those are really hard to find these days. Costco often sells nice packages of hangers. Think about what you are storing other than clothes - shoes, purses (I have a deeper shelf at the top for purses so as to keep those pesky straps under control and they are in cubbies that hold about 4 purses each), accessories such as scarves, belts....See MoreWalk-in closet, narrow? Clothes on just one side? Pictures?
Comments (53)I am so super bummed I found this article! I wish we would have made our one-sided walk-in closet narrower as we ended up with a very small bedroom! We settled on 40" deep after reading this article the closet took valuable space away from the bedroom which is 10' x 11'. I would have done ANYTHING for an extra 5-6" which would have made the room 5' x 11.5" and the closet 36" deep which is plenty for a side-entry walk-in closet. We wanted to do walk in instead of reach in because of the flexibility of the bed configuration and gaining more wall space in the room. But we ended up with a small bedroom and a large closet. Don't make the same mistake we did!...See MoreTurning bedroom into walk-in closet
Comments (6)The house was painted all dark colors dark colors when we bought it – dark grays, brick red, dark green, navy. It was dark and heavy looking even with all the windows windows. It is all painted white and very light colors now and looks so bright and airy, it is hard for us to believe it's the same house. The other bedroom also has three doors and I think three windows. But it is a little bigger and has more wall space for placing furniture, so we want to use that one as a bedroom. Yes I think building in front of the windows may be the best use of the space. We can also build in front of the door (maybe remove the doorknob) that goes to the hallway and just enter the closet from the bedroom as that would be typical anyway....See Moreleafonthewind
