help! euonymous wintercreeper out of control

It's so depressing. I've got two acres of suburban woods and at least half of it is covered with invasive groundcovers.....English ivy, vinca, euonymus fortuneii, japanese honeysuckle vine and clematis terniflora. They're all horrible, but the most widespread is euonymous fortuneii (wintercreeper.) I've tried various ways of getting rid of it and nothing seems to work except hand pulling. Pulling is backbreaking, time-consuming work, and even then it creeps back in from adjoining unpulled areas!

Does anyone know if edging barriers would keep it from spreading again? If so, what kind? And how deep would they have to be set?

thanks a million,
