Unlike other birds, robins are extremely skilled worm hunters. After a robin couple built a nest in my backyard's apple tree this year, I wanted to move the nest to another yard, but I resisted, and so I watched the robins hunt and capture lots and lots of worms from my yard. Worm castings (pooh-pooh) is just about the best fertilizer there is, so I was sorry to see so many worms killed by the robin couple to feed their 2 young babies in the nest. Although I didn't remove the nest, I discouraged the robins from removing worms from my lawn whenever I saw them hunting, which I saw them doing all the time. I actually saved a few worms from the robins' mouths and hid the saved worms under soil in the veggie garden. You gotta hide the worms you save because the robin will return to the spot you stole the worm from him shortly after you leave the spot. I've never seen any other bird species that's as good at worm hunting than robins. I gotta wonder if they're the best? They seem to be the only bird species in my neighborhood to hunt worms. I've never seen any other bird around here capture a worm, which makes me think most of the other bird species don't hunt worms.

Such a pretty picture! My friend had a bird build a nest on her front door wreath. She had to quit using the front door and go in thru the garage until birds hatched and left the nest.

I had a dove nest in an epiphyllum plant I had hanging under a porch roof. Like your bird - dry and safe location. What I did to water was water v-e-r-y slowly, and not have the water stream hit the dirt by the nest (big pot, nest didn't cover the entire surface). I watered often enough that I didn't need to stand there too long, and I could get slightly different parts of the pot each time. 3 or 4 sets of doves hatched from that pot over 2 years! Luckily, being a succulent, it didn't need the copious watering that my fuchsias always have, but that IS how I handled the situation. Funny enough, that plant grew like nobody's business, and got huge, and bloomed vigorously during the dove 'tenancy'.

I'll add what I originally said. It was something like: My vote is for Carolina wren. They like all different places around here. One time we weren't able to use our table saw because we had thrown a tarp over it, and there was a nest of babies under the tarp. Then I wanted to bring in some pots that I had made from the barn, but I put them in a container on the porch until I could wash them. I'll post the pic of what I found one day. One thing you have to be careful of is to not check on these nests very often, or touch them. Predators can smell your scent and it might lead them to the nest. I really love Carolina wrens. They are feisty little guys (and gals). I have them here year round.
