Is anyone doing wood stained cabinets anymore?
Comments (53)Probably seems like all you see is white, white, white because that is what gets published in all of the magazines these days. If you believe everyone has what they publish you would have to buy inset styling too; simply not a dominant style for the masses though. There are cetainly some parts of the country where your neighbors might talk behind your back if you don't do white, but those people aren't your friends :) Best advise is buy what you love; if it isn't white don't worry, you aren't alone. There are a lot of wood lovers around who wouldn't dream of having anything else. Alder finishes beautifully in virtually any color of stain. There have been some comments about Lyptus and that is another wonderful specie when finished in stains - my favorite darker brown-tone with black glaze. There is actually a fair amount of mixing and matching going on these days too. As an example, here is a link to a Lyptus kitchen with a white painted island. Georgous!! Comments (9)Thank you everyone- your kitchens are lovely! I can only hope mine turns out as nice when it is finally finished. Vjrnts: Your soapstone is so cool- what type is that? My cabs are maple but a similar shade so it really gave me an idea of what it would look like. Bunglogirl: Thanks for the pic-- I have the same sink - it looks really nice with the tile. Sarchlos-remoodeler: if you can dig up that pic it would be greatly appreciated- sounds pretty. Thank you all....See MoreDoes anyone gel stain their cabinets anymore?
Comments (6)Silly me! There is more grain to her cabinets then I remembered! They have oak cabinets. So....that changes the story somewhat on painting them We went to Rockler yesterday with a drawer front. The man there applied Walnut and Java to the back of it. The Walnut just as mu DD said "freshened it up" it really didn't changed the color much. The Java darken the grain but not much of the wood. We had not sanded at the drawer front at all and feel that if we had the stains would have penetrated all of the wood. She(we ;-) ) will most like;y stain with the Java. Will post pictures when that happens....See MoreAnyone have pictures of stained cabinets with Supercore or LVT/planks?
Comments (17)The white marble looking one? I did not like the white marble one from Supercore at all. I looked at the charcoal one called either Steel or Carbon. It wasn't bad. I found a tile guy today who will come look and give me an estimate. Hopefully since he is from Tulsa, he knows what he is doing. Funny that he mentioned that there are no standards being followed in Oklahoma and no license needed. I already knew that! He said he was licensed, but if Oklahoma does not enforce licenses, how did he get one? Maybe he has a license from another state. Benefit of the doubt until I hear him say something I know is wrong....See MoreAnnette Holbrook(z7a)
