Actually, it is pretty funny if you know it's a joke going in. :) The cult obsession with them is ridiculousand worth poking fun at. The problem is that the story showed up where and when it shouldn't have. But then I found the "related story" about the settlement funny too. It's not like Oreos haven't made a great success from copying Hydrox!

I didn't believe it for a second, they make too much money off the shoppers. And if they did really close, I would not be heartbroken.

I'm sick of April Fools. It has become stupid and mean spirited. On this day, I don't read or watch any media, stay off Facebook, etc.

John, I agree, I try to ignore it all together. Makes me glad I spent the day at the outlet mall and didn't see any news. I hate to shop and was at the mall with Madi, Maci, Ashley and Amanda and Bud. Three of those five also hate to shop, LOL, and it was STILL better than April Fool's. I wouldn't have believed it anyway, it makes no sense that they keep building new stores if they were going to close. I'd have written it off to Yahoo's constant shabby reporting, though.

I will say that this Quilted Northern Rustic Weave joke was rather humorous.

Amen Annie and John! The worst "joke" today was a young man on social media telling everyone that his doctor had just called and he has cancer. The kicker was that he was in the ER on Monday for another issue, so it was totally believable. Sheesh!

Compumom, that's awful! Where's the joke? I mean, with the TJ's one, it was pretty obviously satire, and I'm sure it was people who didn't stop to read it and think, but just skimmed by, who took it seriously.

Sorry about the cookies! I didn't mean to prank any of you. It basically said that Pepperidge Farm had settled their suit with TJ's. I was just wondering how one could claim legal rights to the form of a couple of butter cookies with a smear of chocolate in the middle, any more than a couple of chocolate cookies with a blob of cookie cream between.

Mustangs, I agree with Peppi, you're an excellent cook. Your salad with figs is my favorite and I don't even like salad!

My problem, I guess, is that I don't care enough. I've seen about a dozen "fake pregnancy" jokes by celebrities and if I don't know them and don't have to buy them a baby present, then I don't care. I overheard a teenage boy talking about filling Oreos with toothpaste for April Fool's Day and giving them to his friends and I thought, "yup, that's a "kid" thing". It's also disgusting, but at that age, would be funny as heck, like the old salt in the sugar bowl thing.

I admit, that next year I am contemplating doing the donut box filled with vegetables gag on my kids. I would have to get a donut box that is not clear on top but having them come downstairs for breakfast and opening the box to veggies would be a blast for me.

ETA: There are some funny ones out there, that I can appreciate. Sometimes when I need a good laugh, I look up this one: classroom April Fool's prank. The teacher does not like cell phone's in class but he handles himself with aplomb.

Ah! Thank-you, Tishtosh, for two examples of funny rather than nasty pranks. No one is poisoned (even if the kids eat the veggies, those are good for them), and they called April Fool on the professor within minutes (and in a clever manner), rather than anything festering and turning mean.
