Found one at Ikea of all places, bought it, brought it home, checked it out, no visible signs of problems, potted it, kept it about a month, checked plants last nite when i watered my foliage plants and everything seemed fine w/ all my succulents and today i walked in and it was broken in half. i pulled as many leaves as i could and put into dry soil. i noticed several places on the plant had a single white root looking protrusion so i made sure when i started tending to the plant that those areas came into contact w/ dry soil. i *LOVE* this plant and my heart sank and my day was darkened when i saw it laying in 2 pieces. any ideas why the plant could simply break in half? stem wasn't soft, didn't look weak and in fact i had to finish "tearing" the break off because fibrous connections were still in-tact. anything i should look for? advice on how to best propagate from leaves? i've had *zero* luck propagating anything from leaves...everything i've tried to root from leaves has dried up or molded away. should i slice them, let them dry out first or just put in or on dry soil? i have planted the top part of the plant in dry succulent soil mix so that any of the root like protrusions could act as roots, put 10 leaves in dry succulent mix, and after checking the roots of the plant looking for disease, i re-potted it to see what will happen. any advice would be appreciated. i love fuzzy plants and this one just looks so sad leaves leaves laying in rows in soil rather than upright and happy. i can take pix if you wish but all the leaves are dirty now because i've layed them on/in soil.

Rina's glorious plants are grown outdoors, that's why they are so tall and compact :) I'm doing what I can with my sunniest windows (which is why I said *the newest growth* like 5 leaves hah) looked like Rina's. Except it's orange?! I dunno, Dave is a notorious plant muncher ... I never know what he might consider salad. I may just take this one to work anyway to be safe - though he hasn't shown much interest in the C&S in general because they aren't leafy. He looooooves spider plants.

Thank you so much. I have been searching the internet for more information, all to no avail. I water this maybe once a week, sometimes twice. I live in the tropics and it's around 30C in the shade. It gets very dry out here, however I watered this plant and then soon after it started raining, and it's been raining and grey the last few days, so that would explain it. Thank you so much for your reply. I will take it inside and hold off the watering for a week or two.

Mine is pretty slow. Winter dormant. That Senecio is a very aggressive grower--maybe give it a pot of its own. Tall pot, let it drape down the sides.
