That will work or you can also use empty buckets turned upside down . make sure the drain plug is out or drill more holes so the extra water can drain

You should plant them now so the roots have time to establish themselves. Strawberry plants have a almost weed quality to them so if you lose a plant or two it is not the end of the world. The best part about strawberry plants is they have two ways to reproduce. The first is by seed which is actually the least popular way to produce more plants. The second way is by "runner" vines which starts during spring when the plants "wake" up. Here is a link to help you learn about propagating through runners (click here). I have read that people use 50% potting soil 25% worm casting 25% coconut coir. You may want to ask someone who has grown Shuksan strawberries.(neighbor maybe) I would put 1 strawberry per pot that way the strawberry has a bit of room to expand with runners. Just a fyi, strawberry plants can be a bit of a bully. They will send out runners so if these guys are out in your yard or near your garden just remember to prune off any runners you don't want to propagate otherwise you may be pulling them out of your flowers or tomatoes.

The temperatures you cite are not a problem. If you can scoop up enough loose soil to pot up your new strawberries, transplanting can then wait until more favorable gardening weather.
