Replanted potted rose turns leaves yellow
Comments (7)Dear seil, thank you for reassuring me about my rose :) it's my first one and I bought it without knowing anything on growing roses, had to catch up quickly on the internet after the purchase) hopefully it will be fine (as I also have another one to repot after blooming). As for the water bulb, actually the rose hasn't touched it for 2 days (after I hosed it through), so it's just there in "emergency" case (is there such a case with roses?) as the temperatures really go high unexpectedly here during the day. But I will take it out tomorrow to see how it goes without it) The mesh is the remedy from my dogs - they think they are great gardeners and tend to dig out soil from the pots (they share the terrace with roses), so I try to discourage them from it for no one was hurt :) Do freshly replanted young plants need water-dilluted fertilising? Internet resources say contradictory things about it.. Help?...See MoreOverwintered pepper plant turning yellow/green/white on top leaves.
Comments (3)I hope you shaded it after transplanting. For the winter inside it lost it's hardness. 18 inches tall and wide doesn't sound too big. My peppers by the end of the season are usually at least 2' high, may be more, and at least 20 inches wide (more, if I let them be.) you can trim it a little, I guess. But not the branch that is producing. Support that branch, tie it somewhere, it can easy snap under wind. Other than that, nothing at least 2 weeks after transplanting, then you can start fertilizing......See MoreNew growth on my boxwood winter gem is light green, almost yellow
Comments (10)Thank you all! So are the rocks a problem? I didn't want mulch because it attracts wasps like crazy and I am afraid and my little sister (who visits and plays in the yard) is allergic. I figured the lava rock was a good alternative. This spot is East facing and gets morning sun mostly so I thought it wouldn't get too hot. There is NO plastic under the rocks, we just removed the mulch that was there before and added the lava rock instead. Nothing else is planted there, just the shrub. It's been a little rainy here so is it possible it's just getting too much water? I did pick up a moisture meter so I could measure before I manually water. I mostly grow succulents indoors sooo this is all new to me, lol....See Moreyellowing foliage inside WinterGem Boxwood?
Comments (2)They seem to have plenty of leaves on the outside so presumably it's just the normal aging and dying of the oldest leaves - broadleaf evergreens often shed these during the growing season rather than in fall or fall only. Sometimes for months at a time, as with Magnolia grandiflora. When it looks like there is a problem with old leaves dying off is when shrubs are starting to become see through (gaunt or sparse looking) because of it. A common cause of this is soil moisture problems, either too much or not enough. Otherwise too many leaves aging out and dropping at the normal time, when there is not a soil moisture problem discovered can be a soil mineral deficiency response. Lack of nitrogen for instance, with the shrub concentrating what minerals it still has present within it in the youngest leaves nearer the shoot tips....See Moreunclehippie
