Vacuum recommendations please!! Bobby???
Comments (23)Bobby~ Thanks for keeping me honest! I don't remember the exact model number of the Progressive I bought, but it was the orange one and had all the bells and whistles (does that help?). :) Integrated cord to the power head, 12A, quick release power head, dirt sensor, dual headlights (which I LOVED), small power head attachment, variable speed, bare floor mode etc. A partial laundry list of issues after 11 months: Intermittent connection in the handle power switch causing it to just not turn on unless it was darned good and ready or you'd flipped the switch a dozen times. The small power head had no suction, even after sending it back to the service center. The bag was folded in half in the compartment so it only ever filled halfway. The variable speed never seemed to vary much. It was either on very low or full throttle. No in between. I had to take the brushroll apart all the time to clear the dog hair and they didn't design in provisions for doing it easily (like Miele does). That said, I love my Miele. It's quieter than any vacuum has a right to be, sturdy, easy on my hardwood floors, gets under furniture I never thought possible to vacuum under, and has given me no issues in the two years I've had it. It's so quiet, I can vacuum the master bedroom and even under the bed my husband is sleeping in without waking him up. Plus as an engineer I appreciated all the quality and reliability testing Miele puts the vacuums through. ok, enough waxing poetic about a vacuum. :) Bri...See MoreFor folks who remember macrame...
Comments (15)Oh yes, I remember macrame. One year, I got on a kick of making Christmas wreaths using macrame cord. They were simple and turned out absolutely gorgeous but making them was really hard on the fingers. I bought the wire wreath frames at a craft store, then looped all of these short cut pieces of cord onto the frame. Then, I combed each piece out to make it nice and fluffy. They were actually so pretty that people wanted to buy them. We were as poor as church mice that year. I was a stay-at-home mom with three little boys, so the money really came in handy. Thanks for this reminder. I hadn't thought of those wreaths in years. And yes...those were the good days!!!...See MoreWho remembers...
Comments (104)Hi colo_lady! We're remodeling my husband's bathroom. Mine was done in 2007. Do I still love my kitchen? I do. There are things I would have done differently had I had time to learn more and discover I had more of a selection. It was the one remodel (and as of now we've redone every room in the house) that was unplanned (hot water heater leak). So I didn't have the luxury of time. The one thing we didn't change in the kitchen was the cabinets. After DH's bathroom and the house is paid for (again) next year, I'm hoping we can reface the kitchen cabinets. Also in 2007 we removed the wall between the kitchen and LR and turned the LR into a large dining room and added a peninsula between the two rooms. LOVE that!!! GW is a wealth of knowledge but man oh man, if you're an over analyzer like me, you can spend HOURS and HOURS at a time, ignoring everything and everyone (LOL) Do you know if Bill is still around? I've been back on the forums for at least 3 months and haven't come across any of his posts (except this one started back in 2008)....See MoreOur Story Using TV Shows....The Entire Story Line
