I'm getting ready!

I always grow new containers of native host and nectar plants to add to my garden each year, but I always have left over seeds. So, this year I have begun direct sowing my extras in a recently cleared electrical powerline right of way. I just took my garden rake and pulled away the top layer of old branches, roughed up the soil, and scattered seeds. Mostly milkweed, but also boneset, liatris and a mixture of other stuff. I'm hoping for a bunch of milkweed sprouts, since that is the favorite of Monarch females for laying eggs. Cross your fingers that we have good rains this spring for good germination.
