Comments (26)The coastal spring here is slow, as usual, but there are a few things to look at. Daffodils: Jetfire (the one I posted earlier turned out to be Jetfire, not Rijnveld's Early Sensation - someday I hope to be able to type this without checking the spelling) and Toby the First. Pieris are starting to bloom but it doesn't seem to be a good year. They had lots of fine buds over the winter but the heavy icy late snows and maybe the critters and turkeys (I saw a squirrel climbing all over a pieris) may have damaged them. Late crocuses are still blooming. C. t. 'Ruby Giant' Yucca 'Color Guard' has looked pretty much the same all winter - a nice reliable color accent. In the hope for the future category, the peonies are sprouting: and one of the Gold Heart dicentras has appeared along with Geranium 'Biokovo' leaves. I spotted a few vinca flowers in an out-of-the-way spot and the pussy-willow buds are furry. Claire...See MoreMarch 2016 blooms
Comments (73)Nice proponents of Spring blooming for you, Rina. Bernard, that's a cute little white flower on the kalanchoe. Great job on the baby toes. It looks very happy. Succulentlife, love the minis and their charming little flower. Ewwmayo, always a soft spot for those variegated haworthias. Great little Morgan and the lilliputian gastric IS cute. Love what Spring brings to everyones yard!!! My first blooming babies: My group of Pachyphytum oviferum are all throwing out some spikes....See MoreNEWBIE Seed Project - MARCH 2016
Comments (42)Hi Denise, Your messaging is not set up. Go to the top of this thread and see the post with instructions, and the 2nd post is "techincal" help so you can set up your messaging, etc. You are not too late. I only realized this morning that March is over. UPDATE FOR EVERYONE: I have a limited number of packets. Some people who have posted/requested have not sent stamps, so if I dont get them soon, I will not hold them. Looks like April will be the last month for newbie seeds, then everyone will be busy growing and planting for this season's garden :) I have really enjoyed helping out the newbies (and must give much credit to the seed donors who have been SOOOO generous this year!) I hope everyone has enjoyed their newbie packets!...See More'Golden Celebration' -- March 18, 2016
Comments (25)Here's my 2 year old G.C. that began its life with me as a band. It is naturally forming a full bush ( I only dead head blooms). As of today, it is about 5' wide and about 3 1/2' tall. Morning sun only. I had a grafted G.C. in the past, and it naturally grew into more of a climber. At no point was it bushy. However, it was growing in a filtered sun location.
