Bald Eagles in Hackensack!
Comments (12)Thanks for that link njtea. It was very interesting; I can't wait to see the 2007 update. aman17; as much as I hate to drive, I just might consider that trip. It sounds thrilling! The adult actually did a flyover my house on Saturday, at 5pm! I heard some strange sounds and noticed 3 seagulls flying behind a large bird. I kept my eye on it, thinking to myself that it was just those darn red tailed hawks that occasionally kill birds in my back yard, but the seagulls surely wouldn't have been THAT close. Sure enough, once it got closer, I saw the white head and tailfeathers. I couldn't take my eyes off of it, but when it turned, I ran in the house to get DH; I needed a witness! Naturally, he was in the shed and I twisted my ankle running for him, but I'm sure I'll see it again. And I've got to remember to bring the camera outside with me, at all times!...See MoreWe saw a Bald Eagle!
Comments (14)We've had the golden Eagle nesting on our place for about 7 years now, but the other day, i was taking a short cut cross-country on my way to Mtn View, and I got to see a fight, TWO!! Bald Eagles fighting with a gold, think they might have been going over, and accidentally flew into the Gold's airspace!! Two years ago, one evening, late fall, hubby and I were privledged to see 8 pileated woodpeckers, flying one after the other--think they might have been migrating-- so much you can see if you stay in tune with Mother Nature. Have you noticed all the geese going north? Spring? Maybe, I hope?...See MoreBald Eagles in WNY
Comments (5)I'm in the Binghamton area. While building the Presidential Helicopter Building in Owego NY we were honored to have a pair of Bald Eagles watching our work progress. They would fly in fish the pond then sit in the trees and watch us work. The interesting part was we were being watched by Americas greatest symbol while constructing the building that our next presidents helicopter would be built in.Talk about Big Brother watching! The pair nests nearby on an island in the river. There are others . I'm told one that flew over my truck while driving up Kattelville Hill is one of a pair nesting at Chenango Valley State Park.Last winter I made a short trips to the Cannonsville Resv. area. Between there and the Binghamton area I saw 10 different eagles in one week. They are awsome beautiful birds....See More+/- OT: dirtgirl, are you the one w/ Bald eagles on her property?
Comments (1)well, that's me, kinda.....the nest is about two linear miles from here, so it's almost my backyard. A neighbor said he saw one of them getting harrassed by "chicken hawks" the other day right here over our woods. I never did find out if he meant "chicken hawk"-kestrel, or "chicken hawk" red-tailed hawk, or what, which bugs me since the term is loosely applied to any bird of prey hereabouts. I've seen the red-tails take a swipe at them, but it's always while they are on the wing. I will have to check out that link--thanks for posting it!!...See Morebpath
