Here is the head.

Is this the fer de lance? I'm an hour south of Cuenca in Ecuador and this was found on a mountain top I believe 25 to 3k elevation.

It does not look like a fer de lance I may be wrong but the body's too small. But then again it maybe a baby.Though it is a poisones type of snake. Tell me have you seen an Eyelash viper?

This is not a venomous snake. This is a species of Leptodeira (Cat-eyed Snake). They are harmless frog eaters.

EDIT - I see that someone else offered up the suggestion of one of the snail eating snakes (Dipsas, Sibon or Tropidodipsas). That could be correct as well. Harmless either way.

It really brings home the fact that one should not 'assume' that food/warmth/shelter is always there and if it goes down it'll be back up before you are in dire straits. Absolutely everything in our culture anymore is grid dependent. Even stores don't warehouse much anymore. I was watching a blurb from an electric company around Pittsburgh, who was hit really hard last week, and still has outages as the new front is about to smack them. The gentleman reminded people that to fix their lines their crew had to get to them. That they drive trucks too, and aren't equipped with flying saucers.

I grew it when I lived in northern Minnesota. It grew great on the east side of the house. I didn't know the leaves were good for tea, but the bees absolutely loved the flowers.

After finding the second one like this I took it to my vet who consulted with the zoo vet who says it is a pixa serpiente caracolera which is a snail eating snake.
