Kitchen sink placement help
Comments (10)Raised bars are really outdated a large uninterupted space is much nicer , do not believe for one minute they hide a mess only if your guests are shorter than the island. How large are your walkways a sink directly opposite a range is never good and have you actully priced out the venting requirements for a 48” range IMO overkill in any home unless you cook for 20 every night the noise from the exhaust system is awful and the whole thing will cost you at least as much as the range.Did you have an actual KD or is this your architect designing your kitchen because architects are not usually good at kitchen design. I usually like kitchens on outside walls for light and range placement but I would need to see the whole layout for comments on that.IMO cooking appliances in islands are the worst possible choice.I hope you have a ll drawers for base cabinets I keep all my everyday dishes and glassware in deep drawers...See MoreHelp with kitchen sink placement
Comments (12)Emilyam819, thank you. Yes I was not sure about the corner upper cabinets, for the same reason. The only reason to leave them would be for additional upper cabinet space, I guess. Another question I had was if I go with corner sink, I will probably move the dishwasher right next to the fridge. That way the dishwasher can be opened and someone could be working at the sink at the sane time. Is it a problem having the dishwasher right next to fridge? The would be separated by cabinet frame....See Morekitchen island sink placement
Comments (7)Generally...off center so you have more prep space on one side. You should still have around 18" on the other side of the sink for landing space as well as for minimizing splashing water on the floor. I assume you are putting a PREP sink in the island and not the cleanup sink. If it's your cleanup sink with the Cleanup Zone, I strongly recommend reconsidering. If it's the first thing seen when entering, I don't think you want your visitors seeing your Cleanup Zone with dirty dishes. Cleanup Zones in islands put dirty dishes front & center and on display for all to see...is that the first impression you want to give?...See Moreplease help with kitchen hood and sink placement!
Comments (8)“I was considering now if it wouldn’t look better to have the sink in the center of island and the cooktop where sink is in drawing?” I am still a bit confused by what you are asking about. Are you saying you want to move the sink from in front of the window to be installed in the island? And the cooktop installed in front of the window? If so, how will you exhaust the cooktop? As an aside, a sink installed in an island should not be centered in the island. You want as much of an uninterrupted expanse of island counter as you can get. A sink in an island should be closer to one of the ends, i.e. off center, while still allowing counter landing space on either side of the sink....See Morenancyjwb
