My marriage is falling apart, I don't know what to do
Comments (14)DistressedWife, this husband of yours has problems and he is using you to make himself feel better about himself. That's what I think. He feels better after he has chastised you, belittled you. He wants to set the rules. I think that he needs a good kick up the arse but not by you. He's not worth a kick up the arse. I know he was your best friend and I suppose you were his best friend but now that you are married, he no longer seems to see you that way. You are his wife. He feels entitled. Well, he's wrong. But he won't know or think he's wrong. He's got a lot of growing up to do and that is his problem. Your problem is him, and a little bit you. (You need to build up your self esteem.) You have to get brave. Get yourself organised, pack your stuff, and get out to a better place. Your father's house seems like a good option. Take some control of your life and you will feel that you have some control. I wouldn't do this when he is around. Wait until he's gone out. He won't want you to have control over your life. And of course he'll want you back. He wants you as his underling. He is not fit to be your husband. Maybe one day he will be. But only he can fix himself. The longer you are away from him, the more likely he is to be motivated to do so. My de facto husband does bot believe in marriage, that's why he and I never married. He thinks that when people marry, they change. I think he is right. Life is about changing our minds. I changed my mind about ever wanting to marry my de facto. You might change your mind about never wanting a divorce. Or you might decide to stop wanting to work at your marriage when you are the only one doing so. For it takes two, to make a marriage work, and at the moment he has no intention. You can't change him but you can change you. And your predicament. All the best. And I'll be sending good vibes your way....See MoreMy succulent is falling apart...are they dying?
Comments (7)As breton said...This plant is best in hanging basket out of the way so no one will brush against it. IMO, it would be good idea to repot into slightly bigger container, as it will grow fast and fill up existing one - and it is more difficult to transplant bigger plant (much more leaf loss :( Throw all the fallen off leaves on top of the mix, most will grow into new plants. If you don't like bare branches, just cut parts off - these cutting will also grow into new plants, and there will be new branches growing from he remaining stem soon. Your soil does look wet. While this plant will like just a touch more water than most succulents, do not overwater and make sure container has good drainage....See MoreRoof repair causing leaks into my NYC apartment
Comments (4)New York City coop boards are protected by the business judgment rule https://www.habitatmag.com/Archive2/209-February-2005/The-Business-Judgment-Rule Any thought of seeking a legal remedy against the board has to take this into account. Also, hiring a lawyer against your neighbors isn't a step to take lightly, since you have to live with them. The leaks may be hard to prevent when replacing a flat roof. Are your floors and possessions being damaged, or is it just that the ceiling damage is worse than you expected? If the latter, then I think you should be patient. If the former, they should help protect your stuff. This mess is the downside of living on the top floor. Assume that the board is dealing with you in good faith, unless you have good reason to think otherwise, IMO. I'm sure there's plenty of time to fight later, if they don't make good on your losses after the roof work is done. BTW, their obligations depend on the proprietary lease. They may not have to paint and restore decorative elements....See MoreQuestion about Flat Roof w/ Mansard Sides
Comments (5)An unusual house. Judging by the window and door heights, the roof slopes towards the street. The roof overhangs the outside walls, so there would be framing extending over the walls. Removing the overhangs would be expensive, and they provide a little cover for the windows and siding. You could probably get rid of the mansard look and the shingles and convert to a more mcm look like so: I can't see ducts in there but who knows....See Moregreg_2015
