Comments (11)Karen... That falcon has been hurt...either shot with buckshot; attacked by another falcon/predator or flew into something impenetrable. From the pattern of blood spots on his breast...I'd probably opt for buckshot. Breaks my heart to see a bird in this condition but falcons and hawks aren't always appreciated by farmers and the like. In any case...if you frequent the area where you took this photo...keep your eyes open. Depending upon what caused his wounds...he may become unable to fend for himself...becoming more visible than is healthy for him [or perhaps dying] until any missing wing feathers fill in. 10 years agoI did see a few crocuses in bloom yesterday, but today they are covered with snow. This is 'birdfeeder man' doing his good deed for the birdies...and squirrels and deer who will be sure to get their share. (notice the ungloved hands...next he will be complaining about splits in his fingers so he can't wash dishes)
10 years agoMy creation isn't as fancy as Nicole's but it sure does the trick!!! A super-cheap kitty box. Our cats love boxes, so I put an old t-shirt over the opening, and tied the excess at the back with an elastic.
Bud has been in it, and Roxie loves playing with it, hasn't been all the way inside yet.
