It'll work out for the best, one way or another.

You two were very decisive to make an offer right after seeing it. How disappointing not to get it. But it's smart to put in a back up offer because stuff does happen. People back out, or encounter financing problems, fall out of escrow. You never know.

....I was going to be one of those people saying acreage, acreage, go for the acreage!!!... because that's my dream. But too many sensible, well thought out answers stopped me, lol. Glad your DH has come around to seeing 2 acres might be okay.

I find that the process of looking cements in what you want and don't want. We started looking close in town and for our purposes we kept being pushed further out and further out. We looked at a piece of land that was 85 acres at the same price of the piece we finally got . We looked at it 3 times but it was down a dirt road and we could not see our clients and lumber delivery trucks coming down that two miles of dirt road. I am now so glad we didn't get that.TOO MUCH. What were we thinking! Then we really really wanted this other piece that was 35 acres, but the guy would not talk to me , A WOMAN. SHEESH. He kept wanting my husband to do the talking and my husband was working an important job and this jerk stalled me for three weeks and finally accepted an offer from a guy. I was heart broken and ANGRY and on a whim , I turned down a road that had a for sale sign on some property and , I knew was home. The search took a year. Hang in there. Be patient.

I do really understand your disappointment but I bet that with the patience wantonamara suggests, the next property will be as good or better.

When we started looking heavily at homes last year, it was emotionally stressful (as I think it is for most). We found a home, put a bid in, but us and the sellers could not agree on a price that worked for both of us. We were dissapointed but kept looking knowing in time we would find rhe right place.

The biggest problem for us was looking at move in ready homes. ( which Is what I was wanting). There were alot that sold right off the bat, ones that had bidding wars, and a few that we did not end up even getting a chance to look at because they sold before our appointment. So, we realised move in ready was not going to work for us! What was nice is that when the spring hit, homes for sale were everywhere so there was plenty to see.

We put a bid on another home after it was on the market a few days, and they did not accept our offer. This home was perfect! We were so dissapointed. We kept on looking but kept an eye on this house since it was not selling. Eventually it was lowered to a price that worked for us, and we put another offer in. This time we got it.

House hunting is an emotional rollercoaster, but the right one will show up! It did for us, and we were very happy we did not get the first house we put an offer on. We liked this house so much better. Patience is a virtue

You will find the right one, it just may take longer than you like. Hang in there! It is great to hear your husband has come around to your side on the property size. That is a great start.... Good luck!!

We are so glad we didn't get the property we really thought we wanted! We were beginning to make an offer but there was some real estate office hanky panky going on- all very mysterious- a developer friend wanted it maybe? Anyway, we were suddenly told so sorry it had already been sold.

We had been looking for 3 years and had thought this was going to be our home so we dragged back to our little suburban house feeling devastated and even more trapped in a tight neighborhood. But after some months a Realtor friend came up with lists of more country places and, after being very disappointed with all of them, we found our home- true love at first sight! But then we were again told so sorry, it's sale was already pending... we felt more heartbreak, but after a few months and a very dreary holiday season, in May our Realtor discovered that it was back on the market. It took us at least a year to buy it; it was in a terrifically muddled bankruptcy situation, had been vandalized by the man who couldn't keep it, was slowly falling apart and had a feral cat living in it. But we optimistically began repairs and very nervously occupied it for 8 months before we could finally legally own it; its been totally worth all that effort and worry! So like everyone says, don't give up- keep looking and I think you will eventually find your home. Best wishes!
