How do I arrange my lists in folders of HD in shorter columns

and not in one long list down roster?

I have columns that show my listings in the HD that is external. On the internal HD, it is one looonnng column, and I would prefer shorter, and more columns , seems faster to check what I have that way. sometimes things just come it seems, and other times I haven't a clue on how to make it happen. Thank you for your interest people.

Are you viewing the contents in Windows Explorer? There is an icon near the top on the right side that is called Change your view and a tiny downward arrow beside it. Choose List. (I'm on Win7)

If you're running Windows 10 you might try holding down the control key and scrolling your mouse wheel.

Not only does it sequence through various view styles, but those that support scaling do so.

You are describing an entirely new harvesting method. All castings no compost. I had several sheets of thick cardboard that looked like giant versions of the wavy cardboard that is between the two flat outside layers of corrigated cardboard. Just the corrigated part, the up/downs, if you will, were maybe almost an inch high with no outside layers. 6" by 13". But thick like a bit over 1/8 inch. I put some at the bottom of buckets with other types of cardboard above it. The worms would eat above and I guess while crawling around just happen to deposit only castings in the ridges. No food or other bedding ever got there, just pure castings and mating worms. When tearing apart a bin, which is very fun, the worms would be thick in the ridges of both sides. And yes like you say they did appear to be making Whoopee. Just like in the inside of egg shells. Maybe a new topic? How to harvest 100% vermicastings. You are right, tubes standing up negatives: Easy access for fruit flys, I do wonder sometimes if that does happen. I try to have the tubes lower end inside the air pocket where maybe there are no flys and hope air goes in and out. I had a sheer curtain material over the bins at one point so that would tend to cover the top of the tubes. I do have material that sometimes misses the pail and goes into the tubes. I seems to not compact and block off the whole air pathway. "A main point of this discussion is that the worms need oxygen (and moisture)." I so agree. I think the focus is and has been on moisture with hardley a mention of oxygen other than avoiding nonarerobic conditions by too much nitrogen. We have read instructions to always control this wetness. Maybe you will agree that moisture can be 100% as long as oxygen is available. Maybe instead of measuring ph and wetness we, vermicomposters, should be talking and measuring oxygen? Either in the bottom of the bin or disolved in the wetness of the bin. Or maybe not a high level of carbon dioxide would indicate high oxygen. When worms are found in drainage trays dead I think that is not too much water but not enough oxygen, or too much carbon dioxide.

This is probably way too late, but if not....I was flipping the channels the other night (be so glad when the writer's strike is over) and came upon the last few minutes of HGTV's Color Splash, with that David guy. (He's very talented, but can only take so much of him.) The segment was "Dramatic Den Makeover" - (the number for the episode is HCLRS.304 and it will be aired again on January 28 at 8:30 ET. Anyhow, he transformed this space to a gorgeous libary setting. Took prefab bookcases and added crown molding and it was phenomenal! You might find it interesting.

For me, it was a matter of physically measuring our various things - I didn't measure every single thing (most utensils, etc. weren't measured), but I measured a lot. And I used a list that had approximate dimensions of important things then used an elevation style drawing so that I could label exactly what was intended to go where. In doing that, I found that I had a few things in my initial layout plan a bit wrong. I revisited those things and was able to come up with just about everything that I wanted where I wanted. As someone earlier mentioned, keep in mind that you will possibly find that you will have some need for a few things in more than one place for ease of use. For example, I have a measuring cup and measuring spoons in a drawer next to the cooktop. I also have the same in my island. I have pot holders in a drawer next to my cooktop, and more over in a drawer by the oven. My aluminum foil and parchment are over in a drawer by the oven - near the are where my cookie sheets and casserole dishes are. My plastic wrap and baggies are near where the fridge is. These are the places where I will most use them. Initially, when I started planning, I was putting all those items together. Because...wait for it...that's they way I've always had them...and the way that my parents and grandparents always had them. Luckily, someone from GW asked WHY I was going to do it that way! And I realized that she was right...that way didn't make sense at all. So, when you are planning, plan for the IDEAL locations. Recognize that there may be more than one ideal location for certain items, so you may wind up having them in more than one place. My goal in putting together my kitchen right now is that someone with a moderate knowledge of how a kitchen should work would be able to step into my kitchen and find just about any of the tools that he/she would need to prepare a meal without my intervention. I feel pretty certain that most GWers could feel "at home" even if it isn't exactly how they might have done things. I would bet that if I showed my kitchen and gave an item and it's general use/frequency of use, most GWers could come pretty darn close to nailing the location. Actually, that might be a fun thread..."Guess what is behind drawer number 1?"

I think you need to move the loveseat just a bit closer to the couch, and be sure you are at a right angle with the two pieces, but imo that is much better. Your visual line along the kitchen wall is not so choppy with the couch there as it was with the loveseat. Having the loveseat on the longer wall allows you room for a chair in the back corner(obviously something more cushy in the future), and plenty of easy access to the door as you said you needed. Having the loveseat on the longer wall also takes away the feeling of the back wall area being barricaded from the seating area by the long couch. It is no longer just a backdrop, but a usable part of the space with depth and interest. Be sure your coffeetable is moved in closely enough so that it is usable for both the couch and loveseat. Thanks for moving things around and indulging me. I like it better this way, tho I would still like to see the tv moved, but I know how men can be about those things. Whatever you decide, you have a nice space and great furniture pieces. Now you just need to bring in some of the great elements that squirrel and chicory have shown you.

Well I did it again, forgot my OS, I am using FF, and this is what I see on top of the list of folders. I clicked on all of these features, and find no change available. thanks for your suggestion Iris, much appreciated, at least it was a try, nothing I can see, unless in organize, and I can't figger those out at all.

From the looks of what you've posted, it's not Windows 10. Could be Windows Vista or Windows 7. You have the Aero Feature enable which wasn't available in Windows XP or it's predecessors.

Go to The Search Box (you should see the Search box once you click on the Windows Start Button) the type System in the Box and click Ok, a Window should appear that shows what Operating System you're using!

If that's want you want, you can:
1. Click the icon that turns the preview pane on/off to turn it off.
2. Click the icon that changes the view and select "Medium Icons".

chugger, prefer the top batch of folder displays, question, why is it like that in one HD, and different arrangement in another HD, both are on same computer. If I love my preview pane, and use it on both HD, so I am pretty sure I don't have to give that up. But seems that way with your solution. Yes, sorry again it is W7.

I really am grateful for your interest in helping me, but know that I can be a pest as well. Thanks for your intervention.

I don't know why it's like it is on the one drive and different on the other.

If I liked the preview pane, I wouldn't give it up. I'd just set the view to display "Medium" icons, "Small" icons, or whatever I preferred. I'd try the different views, see which one I liked best, and use it. (Personally, I like "Tiles" and no preview pane, but that's just me.)

I was just pointing out a couple buttons that can be used to change the view. Maybe you can see what the view is set to on the one drive and set it the same on the other?

I'd do what Chuggerguy (Richard) is recommending. Find out what the one you like is set to and then change the one you don't like to the same setting as the one you do like! Just play with those little buttons in the upper corner and you should be able to find out which one you like!

I have Windows 10 on all my computers and it's a little different form what you would see on your Windows 7 computer. I really think Richards directions are the ones to follow and should work for what you want! I can change this in Windows 10 but there is a Tab for View at the top of the window. I then have 6 choices for different Views ( Extra Large, Large, Medium, Small, List & Details).
