Black spots, white spots, on cantaloupe leaves
Comments (7)Yeah didn't know that when I bought them on impulse. Saw 'em at Home Depot and was like, "Yeah, I'd like some of those." Been working down the row, planting the tomatoes, peppers, etc. Doesn't help that everything is clay! (See pic: http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/tomato/msg061246098308.html?15 ). I've just been winging this whole thing. I'm only planting one. Got a mound 4in high and about 3ft wide with a lot of manure worked in and about 2 shovel-fulls of Miracle Gro garden soil. I've read variously to fertilize because they are heavy feeders and others that say don't fertilize a lot if at all (I forget why not), so I'm taking a middle road (I know that's a logical fallacy, the middle road is not necessarily the truth, but it seems like a good compromise is this case). Wondering if I should peel away as much of the peat pot as I can (after soaking it ofc) since peat is very acidic; I dunno about peat pots though. The last tomato I planted though had a lot of roots growing through the peat pot, guessing it probably true for these guys....See MoreMeyer Lemon Spots Under Leaves
Comments (9)I have washed my tree, it took awhile :) Now i'm bringing it outside for a few sunny hours a day and hope that the leaves will start looking better soon! I took off whatever was in my trunk, it was like a light colored jelly covered by dirt..washed it and gently scraped the rest off with a shape knife. Does anyone know what that is? Comments (3)Very possible that the little black fellows are aphids. If so, they suck plant sap and will weaken the plant. Rub them off, or use direct hits of insecticidal soap, diluted according to label directions. In both cases, repeat as needed. I'm not able to see enough detail to suggest what the white might be....See MoreWeird spots/stains on the under side leaves of some peppers
Comments (9)@ken I'm sure that these are two different problems giving that they have different colours, shape/pattern and are on the opposite sides of the leaves - I may be wrong. I sprayed bacon soda and soapy water (to kill the aphids) on most of the peppers BUT I didn't mulch around the plants in the pots so I saw some pepper plants with soil spewed all over the undersides of its leaves. Thanks...See Morejean001a
