Can you name any English words that have all of the 5 vowels IN ORDER? No names, please......just words that are part of a functional vocabulary.

It'll be more fun if you don't rush to look it up to be the first!

Hint: there very few of these words.

What is funny is I misread the clue the same way. I am hamstrung myself by having been taught to read Look Say hence the misread so it was my last clue to solve. I like to do it top down in turn if I can. It is a sad day when I have to skip around. Oddly enough for me my reading disability can be helpful because this is sort of like chunky anagrams and I am very good at anagrams even though I cant spell for spit. I also don't remember the answer.

How about spaecious? Describing a large room that's decorated all wrong.

Maretricious--someone who looks nice, but wouldn't make a good spouse. (I fudged on two i's in that one.)

Abstemious reminded me of abstentious, but houzz is telling me that's spelled wrong. BTW, houzz is also telling me that houzz is spelled wrong. :P

It's a word if people use it. :) I think right now it would be regarded as slang, but if it's prevalent in 10 years the OED might add it to the dictionary. ;)

It's interesting that the dictionary defines abstentious as meaning the same as abstemious. I had thought it was more about general abstaining, like from votes, or participation, not just indulgences.

By the way, you can make those two words really cool by adding -ly- to the end.

The other two words are so obscure the I'm going to tell you, okay?

arsenious Pertaining to arsenic.

aerious Pertaining to air; airy.

Good grief! I can't believe that I forgot to include the first word that I came up with.....very commonly used in my field of expertise (botany, horticulture).
