Couple of Brain Surgeries And I'm lucky to remember at All. LOL You Guys sent me orniments while I was in the Hospital. My x-mas Orniments are Packed away up in the Attic. Or I'd take pictures of them. Surely Someone else must have Photo's........See Moreany old timers remember the winters of the 60s or before?
Comments (6)I cannot remember the exact years, but I remember much colder winters with more snow than we currently have been having. However I also remember a Christmas Eve going outside in just a sweater in 1954 or so. In the 40's It seems I was always sledding and now my grandchildren hardly ever get the chance! So is this global warming or just the natural change that has always been?...See Moreold timers
Comments (6)Wait for him to go to bed then haul in the manure. It's amazing how many old timers reach for the box of miracle grow. I got my dad started in tomato gardening a couple years ago (at age 73, can you believe that?). I had him add leaves and other organic mature, and he went to the farm to get manure early in the spring. I explained that worms and other creatures will break it down into good plant food. He had a friend that just passed away and ended up with a stash of gardening tools, including a giant box of miracle grow. After trying to convince him to put it down, here he was adding his "secret formula" every week. Oh well, what can you do? He had a good harvest and was excited about it....See MoreAny long time posters (Dale, Jo, Lynda, etc) still around?
Comments (10)Afternoon Jen, That scout camp was at Alpine,NJ. Not bad sites decent size but they were quite a trek from the parking lots. What one lacked in distance to the sites was made up in elevation. When I packed, I packed as if it was "van within 50 feet" camping. Not within 2050 feet camping. Luckily, I brought a Little Tikes wagon but was repositioning the cargo constantly. Unfortunately, it was very uncomfortable during the seminars and show and tell sessions the camp was providing and the kids couldn't wait to leave. I waited as long as possible for the weather to break but it never did. With my 10y.o. clinging and telling me that everyone else was leaving, I had no choice. Packing up after the rain, sleet, snow, and hail in 32° temps was a real trip. I ended up putting my numerous ice ridden mounds of nylon in large storage containers I happen to bring. I've never partaken in winter camping before. With forewarned exposure, it would be different experience when prepared. Thankfully, my son had mentioned he still enjoys camping and we went again as soon as possible to get right back on that horse. I, myself, can't wait till the next outdoor excusion. Maybe in April or May this year cause next year, when he's a "boy" scout, it could be any time during the calendar. I think I have a few purchases to make before then. Enjoy the holidays, Elliot...See Morebrucebanyaihsta
