If the roots dried you may lose the tree. No guarantees in this. Apply an anti -transpirant to the leaves (Wilt-pruf is a common brand) Provide some addittional shelter from the wind. Keep the soil moist but not soggy, dig down and check don't rely on waving a hose around.

What is your soil condition? What kind of humidity do you have? How cool does it stay or how hot does it get? If it gets hot do you spray around to cool the yard? Think of it like this: Where do you find maples? I am in California and if I want to find a maple I will have to go inland and look along stream banks and in shaded canyons. That means two things to me: they like water and they like shade or maybe coolness that shade affords them. So if the ground they are in gets hot they may become very unhappy!!! As a deciduous tree the accumulated leaf litter does have a cooling effect on the surface of the soil! So maybe the tree is trying to keep itself cool and is unable to do so. So check out the soil. Get a bunch of potted ferns or something you like and stick under that tree and water them every day. Spray the air or mist down the tree. I cannot say that the above will work. It is easy to write these words but even an image is not enough to provide a solid answer as you need to feel the leaves, touch the earth at mid day, develop a sense of that image you saw that caused you to want to plant one of these fantastic trees and understand it from that basis.

Most likely the spring freeze I assume you mean "leaf out" not simply bloom. It likely started to come out before the freeze in march and got hit...If you didn't get the freeze others here can help you but I can tell you it is not uncommon it most likely had a disease going for a long time like vercillium but somehow was shocked maybe by the winter and such opportunistic disease took hold and zapped it ...Either way I would trim off all the dead and dieing and any branches that are encircled in black NOW ( DO NOT wait til fall/winter as many will tell you is best time to prune you don't want it to spread), burn or otherwise dispose of this trash and don't leave it laying around, disinfect cutters with alchohol ( I use purel hand sanitizer I keep a pump in my shirt pocket and squirt it on ) between each cut ...as I said it may just be the freeze...but that too has cased oppotunistic diseases on several of my trees ...no need to take chances... If the tree gets full sun, it could be scorched from high heat/baking sun, which will cause that browning and curling at the edges. Though some of the pictures look like somebody might be chewing this guy up. Have you noticed any bugs? Any dead wood in the center of the tree? Does one side look worse than the other? And where are you located? Sorry....lots of questions!
