Thoughts on a 6x24 tile layout
Comments (0)I picked out tile for a new bathroom (not yet constructed yet) today. The field tile on the walls will be 12x24. I've chosen a different (darker) color tile for the floor. It comes in a variety of sizes including 12x24 and 6x24. I'm toying with the idea of using the 6x24, set sort of like planks. I've seen wood-look tile set this way, but this tile is a light gray porcelain with very little texture to it. Any thoughts on how that might look, or even better yet ... some photos showing it? Comments (3)I'd want to do the same type of layout. But I'm kind of rigid like that in my thinking. It might look too close in layout, that the other looks like it was put in by mistake. So the limiting factor is the large format tile, recommended not to do a 50% offset. So I'd do the same with the wall, unless you really deviated from the pattern and did something totally different, like a stacked or herringbone. Again that is my take on it. Comments (7)Thank you! This particular tile comes in 6" x 48" ... 8" x 48" .... and 6" x 24". I almost wanted to mix the three but was told that anywhere I used 8" would have to be. Full room-length run and so would stand out, and while adding a relatively few 24" might help with the randomness I want, the installers could also put too many together creating choppy looking areas that would also stand out. In one flooring shop I visited I saw a wood laminate that actually. Ones with varying lengths and widths IN THE SAME BOX! It looked awesome on the floor display, very real wood like. I wish tiles came that way....See More2 x 6 wood look tiles
