Beautiful bird, Nicole. What kind is it? Linda

It's beautiful. I did some research and it is the ivory pileated that is rare. We have 2 kinds of woodpeckers in the trees behind our house. One is a red bellied woodpecker and the other is the smallest there is I think. It is just a little bigger than a sparrow. Hey I love those owls, nice find. Two summers in a row we had this red tailed hawk. I could get within 6 ft of him before he flew. We could always tell when he was around, the other birds really were noisy, warning others I guess. He was white with caramel streaks through his feathers when I first saw him.

All around Anchorage, the lamp posts were covered with these flower baskets, in the colors of the Alaskan state flag.

Such a nice assortment of photo subjects today.A Spring scene. The big mulberry tree behind, to the left, is coming down tomorrow. Just grew too large and intrusive. The birds and critters will miss it. :( I'm hoping not too many daffodils' heads are poking up now, as I'm sure the workmen will stomp all over them. Esp. since last Fall I planted two new beds of them between the mulberry and the leaning old apple tree in the rear on the right.
