Duet 9400/ load temp washing instructions advice please?
Comments (1)Spin speed is unrelated to temperature/cycle chosen. You can adjust spin speeds separately by pushing a button. Heavy, whitest whites, and sanitary are only three cycles engaging the on-board heater. Heavy and whites will boost to 127F +/- 5F. Sanitary goes to 157 +/- 5F if I remember correctly. The machine does, in fact, deliver those temps in the wash. Your results may vary depending on your ambient temps for machine, clothes, and amount of water in your inbound lines. With my 9400, with 130F water entering the machine from the first drop, and a full load of clothes and machine at 75F ambient, my "hot" setting results in actual wash temperature of 100-105F if using a cycle without the heater. Cycles using the heat-boost all take longer. Don't have manual in front of me. I think I'm remembering those heat-boost cycles correctly. Your manual will tell you which ones...just in case I'm remembering wrong....See Morelg fl studio series lswf388hvs wash temp fyi
Comments (6)Well, that's all good but what do these temps mean? Is 105F what ATC tries to achieve during a warm wash fill or during the main wash cycle. If 105 is the target fill temperature then it really means nothing in a low-fill front loader because the washer will probably move from wash to rinse before the heater has had a chance to bring the water back to the target temp. That's the thing with all these new washers: yeah, they might use the heater on every cycle but if the initial temp in the tub is too low, don't expect the heater to boost it up to 120F if the main wash is strictly time-controlled. Unless you get a Euro-brand like Miele, Bosch or ASKO or select a cycle like "Sanitary" or "Allergen", most washers will just move on with the cycle if the main wash time for the selected soil level has elapsed. It seems the only way to get a hotter wash is to select either Whites or Heavy Duty combined with the heaviest soil level plus options like Steam or Stain Treatment. Rather complicated from a Euro point of view... Alex...See MoreElectrolux Wave touch wash temps FYI
Comments (9)"I asked him to email me the results which he did in a timely manner. Now that really impressed me as he kept his word and followed up on the inquiry." Well, that's nice. I had similar experience 5+ years ago with my Duet. Fine. What annoys me is that a direct call should even be necessary. Why don't they print this stuff in the manual where it belongs? Why have the most basic of questions from any intelligent consumer become industry-wide secrets? From other threads here over the years it is clear to me that almost nobody knows what their machines are doing temperature-wise on any particular cycle. The dissatisfaction among buyers of these new expensive machines is more than apparent. What people have, for generations, regarded as "cold", "warm", and "hot" have been redefined but the new definitions are kept secret unless you want to call directly and wait. Comments (28)As a caregiver, I have organic soils to deal with, so prewash comes in handy. I'll often do a cold prewash with no detergent, to prevent setting the stains due to high temps. even though I have the LiGi set for a cold intake, I'm afraid it heats so quickly (to approx. 50c in 10 or so minutes) to work on cooler water stains. That and I want to flush the soil before the main wash. As larsi mentioned, I'm washing at lower temps now that I know what temps I'm washing things in. Darks clothes i.e. Polos, t's, trousers are usually 35c. Jeans and sturdy cottons at 40c. Light polos, t's and khaki's at 40. Sturdy light cottons at 50c. Dark/light towels at 50c and sheets 50-60c. Whites get at least a 75c wash, I haven't had any wear issues at this temp, even elastic and microfibres. Delicate items are washed at 30c or below. As suburbanmd stated, I like the control of centigrade temp settings. I'm finding that I'm using way less detergent than ever before, this is my 4th fl set, so I'm used to less soap. I think this is a big reason my clothes are showing less wear these days....See Moremamapinky0
