tree with red berries

I pulled up in front of a small TREE yesterday with tons of red berries and tons of robins in the TREE. Yesterday it was below freezing here. The tree was not a bush. What tree do you suppose it was? I want to plant a few in my yard in the spring along with winterberry bushes. Please help.

Lots of mybe's until we have picture, could be mountain ash.

Would have to be something with persistent fruits, such as certain crabs. Mountain ash (or hawthorn) I don't know would still have fruit this late.
