Comments (28)I don't see any Malware / virus. But we are only looking at a hijackthis log from Safe Mode, and Malwarebytes only ran for 14 Mins? I see an out of date computer. adobe 7! Java 1.5! IE6! Then McAfee is that up to date? For starters I would go into your add/remove programs list and remove Adobe. We can get you another reader later. Then remove all versions of Java from the add / remove programs. The only version there should be Version 6 u_18. Remove all others. Then install IE7, http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=9AE91EBE-3385-447C-8A30-081805B2F90B&displaylang=en You said yourself your getting Internet Explorer is not responding errors Then I would download Avast 5.0, to the desktop, don't install it yet. http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download Now I would run the McAfee removal tool, http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507 When that finishes double click the Avast that you downloaded before and install it AND SCAN WITH IT TOO. After we can remove some 04 entries in hijackthis log. Unnecessary Start ups. Up date Java , Get a reader program for pdf files. Run some cleaners, ccleaner ect. Good luck you have a lot to do. Don't surf The Internet in Safe Mode no Virus protection in that mode....Just go to links provided and get Avast installed after McAfee is removed....See MoreHelp, I've got something going on/????
Comments (16)I wanted to address part of your question I neglected and that was about the error nerd, please stay away from that site and applications it is RED listed on WOT so definitely not a place you want to go to or download from. You should not leave anything in the cd or dvd drives unless they are being used, when not being use take them out asap. and definitely keep away from any registry cleaners and I would really urge caution to your mother if she is using them, we see computers that are so screwed up after people use registry cleaners with out the proper knowledge and usually the only recourse is to wipe clean and reformat. Also just because a pc is new and the components are new does not mean they can not go bad, some are bad on arrival, and I have had to change the cd/dvd on several computers, when you use them repeatedly they do generate a lot of heat, so anytime you will be burniing try to space it out so as not to keep it continually running for long periods you want to keep the heat down, heat is a real killer. The model you have is very compact so has even less air flow space inside, keep it cool, I put a little fan on my desk that blows directly on mine to help keep things cool. Getting the dust out is good, you can use the canned air to help blow out dust also. the link at the bottom is the WOT rating page for that nerd site, you might want to add WOT to your browsers it is a super helpful tool. Comments (13)Hi alisande, BBBluz (do we like BB King, BTW?) Actually that was a nickname given to me by my dearly departed grandfather because of my BIG blue eyes! But, yes! I do like BBKing! Love the blues! I'm glad you posted at LandzDown, I see you found out a few things that were needing attention. Corrine is one of the best in the field of Security. @ mike kaiser: Yes! I am a wannabe. But I've taken it one step further than wanting...I am a gonnabe! I want to be the best that I can be to help those who can't help themselves. I don't see how that would render one to be self-important. The one thing that I have found while helping others to solve their computer problems, is that not everyone is cut out for learning the Technology that is closing in on us and making our lives difficult. I am not here to help criticize the work of others, just to protect and teach those who are vulnerable to those who create malware and get rich at the expense of those who are unaware of such tyranny that we face while surfing the web. The Web of Trust add on does this very well. Even if you click on a familiar link that is good, there are "sub links" within links that are not so good. I have found many while researching and will do my best to protect and teach those who are not aware of this. That is my goal! Safe surfing and to teach others about the hazards there of. I am not here to criticize as you have in your post, but to teach and give of myself what others have given to me. I can tell that you are quite an educated man and I'm sure that is your goal as well. To be completely honest...your response had left me baffled! WOT definition: With over 13 million users worldwide, Web of Trust offers Internet users preventive protection against online threats and scams. WOT's patent-pending reputation management system computes ratings from individual users and trusted sources based on trustworthiness, vendor reliability, privacy, and child safety. Sophisticated algorithms guarantee objective reputation management, ensure reliability, and protect against manipulation....See Moregreenman28 NorCal 7b/8a
