I'm not quite sure of your tree... I'm not in your country let alone city, but the tree bark looks a little like Camphor laurel. Whatever the plant is, those growths are galls, not any type of fruit.

Ok so I looked up the camphor and everything I read matches, except when I looked up pictures I saw it has these branches growing out similar to the berry branches on a pokeweed, and this tree doesn't grow that. However, they do take over everything, and besides the branches this tree matches to the camphor. Yes, the smaller ones are the trees as well, they grow as means by either branching out at the bottom, like a crape myrtle, or straight up, like an oak. In fact, the only other trees around these things are wild magnolias or water oaks.

I don't know Camphor Laurel from personal experience but looking it up online under its botanical name, Cinnamomum camphorum, produces images of a tree with completely different leaf shape and veination ( three main veins rather than pinnate. ).

It could be what some people call a Redbay.

I thought of Red Bay (Persea borbonia) as well, but the description of the fruits (black nuts?) is not consistent with Red Bay. Black berries, yes. It would really help to have pics of flowers and fruit. Below is a pic of the fruit of similar Swamp Bay (Persea palustris). Berries (drupes) are on long stalks.

FWIW, crushed leaves of Red Bay are similar in smell to culinary laurel leaves.

Leaf veining is not consistent with Cinn. camphora leaves. Leaf gall is common on Red Bay. Otherwise, it can be a handsome broad-leaved evergreen tree. Ambrosia beetle is giving problems in the south though.

It'll be a while before they grow the nuts. Those don't even start growing till April, I mean first thought when you smell the leaves is citrus, but this thing doesn't grow any kind of citrus.
