Contractor Ordered the Wrong Sliding Glass Doors (Custom Sized)
Comments (3)Did you notified HOA before doing any work and got a letter from them that it's ok to do the work? Around here, before any work is being done on the condo or townhouse involving HOA, you have to notify HOA on what type of remodeling you will be doing and if any exterior work is involved they provide guidelines which materials must be used, usually matching materials to have the same look as the rest of development. You cannot get a building permit also unless approval from HOA is submitted to the township So before ordering anything contractor had to make sure the doors were approved by HOA....See MoreWant to change sliding glass door into a window
Comments (2)If you're in Alameda Cnty (we are too) one almost needs a permit to breath, LOL. It's the city you live in that determines whether you need a permit. Many do it by amount: Oakland requires (or did, when we were gutting our home) a permit for any project over $600. Others charge a % of total project. Go to your city permit office and talk to them. Having plans in hand will help, but at least some kind of drawing will give them an idea of what you want to do. Some of the clerks are surprisingly helpful. YMMV, of course....See MoreRemoving door and window to install sliding glass door
Comments (5)Need to see a picture of the house whats on top of the window and the door. Most likely there are 2 separate headers one for the door and one for the window so you would have to replace them with one which will span the entire opening. If they threw one header for both being them that close, will make things much easier, if not, it's not a big deal, experienced carpenter can do the whole job in one day with the new door installed and do any patchwork and trim work the the next day....See MoreNeed Help Removing Spots From Glass In Sliding Glass Door
Comments (4)It may not be a stain from minerals but etched watermarks from a cleaner containing a fluoride compound of some sort usually found in metal cleaners. Vinegar will not do what you have and I would speculate the cleaning lady used something else with the ability to etch glass such as a stainless steel cleaner or diluted drain cleaner. If nothing else works I would suggest trying Duragloss Nu-glass #755 and can be found in most auto part stores. It is formulated to remove etched watermarks from glass but requires a lot of elbow work or a buffing attachment on a power tool....See MoreUser
