Beautiful Christmas cactus, Socks. My DM had such a green thumb and I inherited her Christmas cacti. I think of her especially fondly when I see the beautiful blossoms.

Socks, are your Christmas cactuses outdoors right now?? They look so healthy. I have one I inherited from my sister when she passed and it has started to look rather puny. The "leaves" are all drooping badly. I was afraid I was keeping it too wet, so I repotted it in orchid potting mix. It still looks flat and limp. Any suggestions??

In Holland, Michigan their downtown sidewalks all have coils under them.

Jim, I believe we saw a picture of her husband shoveling that walk and that it was pretty hard work! I bet she would like to have coils under those bricks. LOL

Yes, Murray, they are outside all the time, under cover of a palm. I am not an expert as the one on the lower right looks marginal too with some limp leaves, although it is looking better now. I probably over or under watered. Is yours getting plenty of indirect light? Sorry you are having trouble as its a special plant. Was orchid mix recommended?

Limp leaved Christmas cactus is very likely overwatered. It may be getting root rot. Good luck!

Thanks, rob and socks. I think it was getting overwatered. That's when I repotted it. I removed most of the dirt and replaced it with the orchid mix thinking I would get better drainage. The soil was pretty wet when I took it out of the pot. I have had this plant 7 years and I'm pretty sure my sister never repotted it for as long as she had it. It has flowered every year, but getting less and less flowers and it was pretty limp. I've moved it away from a north facing window in a very dry room to the family room where it is getting light from both a south facing and a west facing windows - about 2 feet from the windows. Most of my other plants are in this room too and are doing well. It might be my imagination, but it does look a little perkier today. :) Thanks for your help.
