Is this a Eurasian Tree Sparrow?

Good morning. I noticed a sparrow looking bird climbing in and out of my bird house this morning. This is the first time I've seen any action at the bird house in many months.

Two things-

Is it a Eurasian Tree Sparrow? I'm in STL, MO and the field guide I have matches the description and picture. And the book shows this bird is found year round - only in the STL area - see pic for reference.

2nd - is this bird nesting or is it possible it's destroying eggs or another birds nest inside the house?

I can take the bird house down if needed. Any advice is appreciated.

background- I've been feeding the birds for about 3-4 years. I just started identifying them and keeping track of what I see.

close up

The pictures aren't the greatest but this bird had distinctive black markings around the head area along with white markings like the picture below.

The book above writes how this bird is from Germany and how 20 birds were released in STL in 1870. It goes on to say they do use natural cavities or nest boxes.
