I think there is more hugging going on today then in the past. I get a kick out of dropping my 11 year old granddaughter off at school in the morning. Those girls and guys hug like they haven't seen each other in years.

Interesting! My niece and nephews (aged 11 to 13) are all huggers, without any adult prompting. They just rush in and grab us and hug. I love it! It never dawned on me that this is happening in their peer circles as well. How cool!

I'm not much of a hugger but since I'm now aware of National Hug Day, I'm going to make my teens hug me when they get home from school today. Yes, I'll have to force them to do it and there will be sighs and eye rolling. Ahhh... something to look forward to!

We're a family of huggers too, and the *always* 'I love you' when hanging up from the phone, leaving someone's house, or saying 'goodbye' from anywhere! It's all just second nature. Even if it's only a familiar face(not quite a friend)they get a hug, especially if I haven't seen them in awhile. Who doesn't love a hug? Here's to ((((((((y'all)))))))). ;)

Yes, maybe more hugs, but I've tended to run with a more huggy bunch than I used to.

At work though -- I received hugs when I lost my father. Other than for extreme situations, people don't hug each other there.

I am a hugger now, dont really recall how or when I started to be one. I wasnt in my younger years, I was a toucher though, like on the arm or shoulder type thing when talking to someone.

I'm not a hugger. I come from a long line of non-huggers. I don't think Natl Hug Day should be during cold and flu season. I don't need casual friends any closer, thanks.

We're a bunch of huggers in our family. We hug when we arrive, leave, and anywhere in between. Doesn't matter if we saw you yesterday we still do it. And some of my oldest 'work buddies' (male & female), yeah we hug at work sometimes too.

We're huggers too!. We hug when we arrive, during the stay, and upon departure. We also snuggle for extended periods of time with grandchildren.

What kind of hugger are you? A close up, intimate, body wrap hugger like us, or leaning over and meeting at the shoulders. (in laws do that)....ugh

I like a firm hug, if you are going to hug me then do it like you mean it. It's like the limpy handshake, cant stand them, I would rather not shake your hand if its going to be limp.

Not a hugger. Don't mind a hug, but probably won't initiate it. My parents were not big huggers, but my mother was a memorably caring person. I still have people she cared for as a nurse stop me to tell me what a warm & comforting person she was. My Dad is also a love. We just weren't a touchy family.

My DD is more of a hugger. I think she grew up playing sports where pats, hugs and other friendly physical connections were common. DS is more like me - very conscious of personal boundaries. DH is a hugger - but mostly to me, our kids and the grands ;)

ETA I do hug my dogs!
