Song Sparrow was fine, 3-7 eyes each, certainly not as large as Fina was. Song Sparrow just seems to carry a lot of the cactus dahlia style blooms that no one else carries, most were initially produced by Klehm. Their roots always arrive fresh and unbroken with no issues.

I did have a Chipper nest of 3 Chippers and one Cowbird.....didn't notice till it was too late. All 4 babies fledged. I did notice that more Chippers than just the 2 parents were feeding these babies. Quite a few in fact. SO (not that I like these birds) but it does not necessarily mean all the other nestlings died.

As you can see the cowbird baby is as innocent and dependant as the other babies. It has no idea that it has caused harm. By this point it is to late to do anything. Please keep an eye out for these eggs. This baby takes up 1/2 of the nest, there were 5 eggs when I first looked. This means 2 eggs were tossed. This is just a sad thing,luckily all 4 of these babies fledged, most nests are not so lucky. I was able to monitor this nest and knew all the babies were getting fed. Please dont let these eggs hatch. Nobody wants to harm a baby bird, I sure couldn't but seeing how these babies grow you may decide it's not so bad to render the egg "non vialable", there will be plenty of cowbird eggs in nests you cant see, I have a Cardinal with a cow baby now. They will survive, we just dont need so many of them. Thanks Konrad!

Over the years, Roy Klehm has introduced many new plant varieties including woody introductions as well as herbaceous plants, many of which are Daylilies, Tree Peonies, Herbaceous Peonies and Hosta. He has worked with several breeders to introduce some of the best shade trees, Crabapples, Magnolias and Lilacs in the industry. As of spring 2019, Song Sparrow is now under new ownership. A neighboring farmer has purchased Song Sparrow and is fully committed to the 2019 shipping season. We will continue to work hard to get as many plants as possible into the hands of our garden fanatic customers this year. We have the same awesome staff and quality plants, as always. In addition to our 60 greenhouses of perennials, trees and shrubs, acres of peonies and daylilies, we have also been propagating and growing many liners for our sister company, Beaver Creek, which is now going thru its own change in ownership. Basically we have 3 generations of stock on hand ranging from large garden ready, bare root plants to trays of plugs.
