How to cat-proof a box spring?
Comments (7)Buy a roll of replacement window screening. Cut to fit and staple to the bottom of the box spring using a staple gun. You can purchase either fiberglass or aluminum screening depending upon how aggressive your cat is when sharpening her claws. We had a lab that liked to crawl under our antique bed which sat quite high off the floor. She had great fun shredding the liner on the bottom of the box spring. This was our solution....See Moretwin xl mattress box spring set
Comments (5)An extra long won't feel any different than the same model in regular twin length of 75 inches. A twin won't feel any different than the same model and construction in the king or queen size model. As with all things, comfort is personal, and price is usually indicative of quality. ......and often comfort, but not always. It's a third of your life for the next decade. Divide is my advice, based on that. Thus...even 5 k over ten years is 500.00 per year for that third of your life. What do you spend on a car, as I doubt you spend eight hours a day in that machine : )?...See MoreDo I have to replace the box spring too?
Comments (23)Most of today's mattresses are not two-sided, flippable. They don't require true box *springs*, just a platform or slats. I think it's because they rest on their four wooded sides, and the mattress doesn't 'feel' any springs other that what's inside of them. Last fall we bought a latex-plus-springs mattress and have been satisfied with them. (Amore Beds in Chicago) We bought two TwinXLs that we use as a twin. They were shipped to us. We needed our DS and DGS to carry them into our bedroom, as each was 70 lbs. They sit on our existing boxes (no springs inside). We'd tried all-latex in a store but didn't think we could get used to the sort of solid/cement feeling (no springs in them). These have been a good compromise. There is minimal 'hammocking'. We rotated them once, but as others have said, I don't see the point of it if you can't FLIP 'em!...See Morebox spring on a twin platform bed even though it doesn't call for one
Comments (2)Using a boxspring will block most of the bookshelf and possibly add a foot in height (depending on thickness). How old is your daughter? The beds dimension state it's already 15.5" high without a mattress. If your box spring is 6" and mattress is 6", it will be over 27" high to climb up. That's the height of most barstools. Our son had a captains bed (without boxspring) from age 3 to 10. He needed a stool to climb up for the first couple of years....See Morergreen48
