New Windows 10 laptop with Windows 7 OS

This doesn't seem right to me. I bought a brand new HP W10 laptop after Christmas. I've had it a week and it's had nothing but issue after issue. While looking around to familiarize myself with the computer, I saw that its restore point was for W7. Huh?

My last laptop was a Vista, no problems, a joy really; but I needed a new laptop and wanted W10. I'm disappointed to see the W7... I'm wondering if my issues are because of incompatibility with the W10 upgrade?

I'm in the process of getting authorization to return it because if it's been such a headache in the first week, I can't imagine dealing with it for years. Not a good experience. What do you all think about W7 upgraded to 10 - too much potential for problems?
