I killed a purple waffle within a week. I repotted it and I guess I didn't give it enough water. Woke up the next day to a floppy plant. I tried to rehabilitate it but no luck. Finicky plants. Too bad cause purple is my favorite color.

It'd be a perfect time for it. Its really dry in my house and my plants are sulking a bit :-(

The purple waffle is one of the easiest plants in my opinion.

It loves humidity and can take low light, although the leaves will start

to go green instead of purple. You can keep it moist in the winter time, or let it

droop and then water it. I had one that sat on the top of my kitchen cabinets

last winter and i would look at it everyday. When i would go in the kitchen and

see that it was droopy, i would then water it and it would perk right back up.

It also flowered while it was outside during the spring and summer.

Well then I'm doing something right. It's going to have to live on benign neglect at least for the winter. It is sitting right next to my bed so I can see when it droops. It's also in a double pot so there is a little humidity. For now that's where it's going to stay until I find a more needy plant to take its place or I make some room in my bathroom for it.

I put mine in the ground this past summer and it LOVED it!

Of course it's back in pots now, this is some of it, from the pic above. Definitely a thirsty plant, a lot of the tips turned brown after it got too dry, and new leaves are green from low light inside. Not worried it won't live to get back outside again, there new growth at the tips and new growth from the roots, but I'm sure it prefer to stay where it's always warm, like I would!

I may put mine outside as a bedding plant if I can get the 4 o'clocks out of the bed. It's funny how I love 4 o'clocks and have tried to grow them at every home I've lived in but now that I have a proper flower bed and planted roses in it, they came up. They gave my roses bugs. I don't have anyplace to move the roses, now.

4 o's are easy to remove, just dig up the tuber. Is it too small for both? What kind of roses do you have?

One is Mr Lincoln and I forgot the other one. I bought them for my daughter. I think it would be easier to just move the roses than try and find all the tubers. There are morning glories in there too. Whoever lived here before us really didn't want people enjoying that bed. It's only 3x6 but our landlord is really possessive over his grass and it's the only bed in the sun.

Oh I forgot to add there is also spearmint that escaped one of its pots going every which way in there too. I'm really surprised with as cold as it is that my mints havn't gone dormant yet.

I must be a glutton for punishment. I just bought these tonight. I asked the lady at HD if she'd mark them down because the edges were crispy and she did.

Beautiful! I have that one too, which seems a bit more suicidal. Looking forward to hearing how it likes life @ your house.
