Help - propagating purple waffle plant
Comments (3)Did you cut any leaves off? A stem without any roots cannot keep all those leaves alive, it's best ot cut most of them off and the rest in half, then pinch the top. They will grow back after rooting....See Moremy purple waffle is neither purple nor waffley

Comments (21)I just made the waffle recipe mentioned in another post though i may have mucked it up...we shall see tomorrow. The yeasty crispy recipe. I had to modify a bit. We don't keep or use milk or butter anymore. I usually have a bit in the freezer and often have some organic dried milk powder from the holidays...none to be found. We use non-fat yogurt and oils in place of mayo and butter in everything. We do have homemade maple syrup, a gallon!, from a friends Catskills farm. I use it in everything from rhubarb bbq sauce to breakfast corn griddle cakes but not really sweet lovers. We pick a few gallons of wild blueberries every summer and freeze. Two cups heated on the stove with wild thyme, lemon, and cracked pepper is so delish on waffles. Tomorrows waffles will be savory. Caramelized onions, roasted red pepper, gorgonzola, and proscuitto. Hoping for success. I use a cast iron waffler. Ten years ago i stopped even trying to replace elec appliances and now have very few. When they burn up and stop working i am done with it. Blender, toaster, choppers, cuisinart crap. (my blender just died and was only used a few times) I'm rather surprised at the high ratings for this waffle iron. I've had mine for about five years. Works great but very different from the belgians. Think deep dish pizza vs thin and crispy. I'm going to make two thin waffles, then sandwich my 'fillings' and re-crisp. Ha, we will see. Do not buy this waffle iron if you do not understand cast iron! (you will hate me : ) ) Here is a link that might be useful: cast iron waffler...See MoreWaffling between two layouts. Please help!
Comments (47)Anne, that's not a bad idea. We currently have a tall but shallow shoe holder on the left with hooks above for keys. There are only about 11" on that side of the door, so it's a bit limited. I could definitely fit a closet to the right of the door, and maybe a bench where you suggest. k_b, no more than one kid in the plans for us, but I do know he'll get bigger and take up more space. Although with all the big plastic toys, it's hard to imagine! The house is little, but I kind of get a high from figuring out how to make the most of a small space. We also have a big shed and a garage, so anything that can go outside does. Here is the existing layout. As you can see, there isn't any storage planned in the main room (the family room was an addition several years after the house was built). After the kitchen/public space, we'll be moving on to the bedrooms - we plan to put built-ins in the master, and get rid of the powder room in favor of more closet space. The closet in that hallway is currently devoted to HVAC, but we're hoping to move that up into the attic at some point. Some of that space could be used for the bathroom in there, but I've been unable to figure out how making it a foot or two deeper will help add storage, which is what we really need....See Morejamilalshaw26
