sue I now know what you're talking about! while wandering sam's club just saw these "adult" coloring books including one in a hard bound book! I might buy one next time...i'd have to get the coloring pens as well....

Going off-topic a little, hope it's ok...

I spent a week taking care of my 5-year old grandson in the afternoons. I had my coloring books, and he wanted to do a page, so we picked the easiest one for him (a ladybug). He worked so hard to stay in the lines and did a pretty good job. It was such a peaceful time coloring together, just chatting about anything, asking each other what color do you think this should be, and so on. It was a really lovely time. Since then I've noticed his coloring in general is much better, and he pays attention to his colors (no green skin) like he didn't do so much before. I'm sure the coloring will benefit Alyssa as well, to say nothing of the time spent with loving family.

Socks, I was babysitting my kindergarten grandson in November while his parents went house hunting in Texas. He brought his homework with him, which was a cute gingerbread boy printed on a full size of tan construction paper. He was to decorate it for the bulletin board at school and the teacher was going to display all of the students' gingerbread boys. Instructions said he could glue stuff on it or paint or color it. I did not have anything that would work to glue on it, but he wanted to make a Ninja gingerbread boy. The poor teacher, it was colored black from head to toe--head covering, face mask, and clothing. Not the least bit Christmassy at all. I think he used up almost all of one of the black crayons.

I wish we still had the way of showing birthdays like we did before. I miss wishing Happy Birthday to my KT friends, and I miss getting birthday wishes for myself, which is also in Feb like Sue's.

I love your fun day and the gift. I ordered some new gel pens too. I picked up a few brush pens at hobby lobby but don't like them near as well as gel pens.

I have been printing some really good ones from pinterest on heavy paper. I never leave any of mine in the book I don't like trying to color in the book. I prefer to use a clip board.

It's very relaxing for me too.

Oh man Raven, good idea using a clipboard. It is hard to color them while in the book. Thanks for the tip!

Luckily most books have good perforations to be able to tear them out. I like to be able to turn it in all directions, easier to color! I save them in document holders in a 3 ring binder.

I hear you, Sheila! You just have to chuckle and carry on. You don't want to tell him what he's doing is "wrong." I'm sure the teacher has seen it all!

I've used my xacto knife to remove pages from unperforated books.

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes and replies. My birthday is not until Feb. 3. All of the gals in our family love to color, always have. They are also good in art. Just heard this from daughter Terri, Dollar Tree now carries them if they have not sold out. Alyssa says she is going to teach my great grandson Alex to color. He is two years old. He does try to color though when his mommy and his Oma color. Loved the pictures you colored too. I forgot to add Cheryl and I use clip boards and tear our pages out. I also use a book light if I need it. I had to leave my one book light with Alyssa as she loved it. I told her she could use it. I have a couple more. Alyssa clipped her picture to a coloring book with the book light and it had to be just perfect. Amber has a binder to put her pictures in.
