Broccoli and Why to plant more than one

User

OK guys, I'm looking at a seed catalog and I can't seem to wrap my head around having a spring and fall broccoli plant. I put mine in in mid April (6a) and then leave it in the ground until January. It happily produces broccoli and leaves for cooking the whole time.

So I'm thinking to myself, "am I not harvesting vigorously enough, would I get better yield from planting a separate spring and fall crop?"

Obviously, I don't get large heads all year, but whenever I want broccoli it's there. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts
