Comments (3)How do all you know it alls? The mower in question is an original. The only thing you're right about is the handle brackets being different. The original was bent and not worth saving. They started using this style handle bracket in 1972.The id tag did not get sand blasted it was damaged by acid at some point by a previous owner. The cover plates where made in plastic and aluminum.Early run 69's had aluminum and later runs had plastic. The available replacements where plastic. My mowers are always refurbished and they command a fair price. If you don't like the price don't bid Charlie. If you want new go buy new.If you want unrestored vintage machines for 10 buck then you'll get junk.If you where that smart Charlie you'd already know your air filter fuel leak is a bad needle and seat.Get informed and educated before you spout off in speculation not knowing what your talking about people....See MoreHelp with Sales and Use Tax Question
Comments (5)Thanks Everyone for the replies. A phone call to the State Revenue office did indeed clear it up. The key is how the invoice is written. If labor and material are broken out seperately then only the material is taxable. If combined and invoiced as a lump sum then the entire invoice amount is considered taxable (effectively over taxing the customer and putting me at a competitive disadvantage). In my business materials are somewhat low in comparison to the labor charge so it is abit misleading -- making it look like I am making a 'killing' when I am really just trying to not overtax the customers. Whew!! Thanks again everyone. Steven...See MoreSales Tax Deduction Questions for 2006
Comments (3)IMHO, you need to be careful claiming the sales tax deduction for sales tax that you personally didn't pay. Is the builder who bought the materials claiming the sales tax as part of his cost of materials on his return? If so, those dollars for sales taxes paid are already being deducted by the builder. If you also deduct the sales tax that the builder paid, then the deduction is being taken twice for the same amount of sales tax. I think the IRS would frown on 2 deductions for the same dollars spent in sales tax. If the builder is paying materials under a tax exempt numer, then reselling those materials to you and charging you sales tax, that amount should be reflected on your invoice as zone 8grandma suggests and would be deductible on your return. I know nothing about Washington sales tax law, but I do believe that that both you and your builder claiming a deduction for the same sales tax would be frowned on by the IRS. Hopefully this makes sense. I've rewritten it several times and am still not sure it's clear what I'm trying to say....See MoreeBay question
Comments (14)Yeah, that scam involving Cashier's checks is really something. This current matter is on a whole other level, though. It's just a $25 item, and I think the buyer is an elderly woman. The item is something that would appeal to the elderly. She has good feedback. Lots of people are still suspicious of Paypal. Heck, I know an intelligent, educated woman, younger than I, who refuses to give her credit card number to Amazon. I've sold quite a bit of stuff on eBay, and I'm willing to trust my gut feeling that this woman is good for the money. If I'm wrong, I'll let you know. I might try relisting the item, to see if I can specify checks as payment. Then I could let her know, and she could buy it. Then she, eBay, and I will all be happy . . . provided the check clears. :-)...See MoreElmer J Fudd
