Power shovel for digging out trees!
Comments (19)I bought a cheap electric jack hammer with a clay spade off of amazon and used it to dig a very deep hole for an egress window. It worked really well to knock boulders loose and break the clay up. It was a horrendous job but I wouldn't have been able to do it with out the jack hammer. It should work great fro digging holes for trees. I would have hired someone with a mini excavator but you can't get one in my back yard....See MoreThankful for dogs that dig holes in rose beds
Comments (12)The hold digging happened while I was in Colorado; the dog is quickly learning that she cannot go into the flower beds but without her digging a bomb crater and piling the dirt around the rose, I know the rose would be gone like so many others. As I cleaned beds yesterday, along a fence that before I left had been covered with mature climbers which are now missing, I kept finding burned spots with rose canes turned to charcoal. The former resident, my ex, obviously deliberately pilled and burned under many, many roses. And this too shall pass....See MoreI need an effective tool for digging holes HELP
Comments (5)My area has that hard red clay, and azaleas do very well. Without amending. I'd plant them in my yard if I had any shade. crystal vision, we use an auger to plant, but it doesn't require two people. It's fairly heavy duty, but not enormous or terribly cumbersome. We use it for large plants as well as annuals and perennials. Other than the digging part, I have learned to love the red clay. I've not found anything (yet) that doesn't thrive after planting. I come from coastal SC (lots of sandy soil), so was DREADING trying to grow in stuff. I was very, very wrong. You can learn to appreciate it, too....See MoreWater powered Garden Dig-It??
Comments (7)This is a great device! It is the one weed-digging device that my wife can easily use and it works very well. The green plastic handle broke off on one side when she was using it, so we ordered another one. The broken one still works but it is necessary to use a stick to block the valve open. It is great for digging out weeds that are among the roots of another plant - no need to dig up the other plant, just fill in the hole where the weed came out. I assume that this is for digging fence postholes. What kind of posts will you be using and what kind of soil do you have along the proposed fencelines? The Dig-it will certainly make holes but they will probably only be about 1-2 inches in diameter, even though the depth will be OK. The weeds and volunteer trees that we hand-pull with the Dig-it are usually only 1/2" diameter. For larger stuff, we use the tool to create a pocket of mud around the weed from several sides, then wrap a chain around it and remove with a truck rim or connect it to a pickup truck hitch if more power is required....See Morezack_lau z6 CT ARS Consulting Rosarian
