Hey everyone! I just noticed an inflo starting to grow on one I have been trying to grow for 3 years now....ARG..Why now? It will never get a chance to grow.It is just starting. I have managed to pop a bloom on another, even with this lousy cool weather. I took a pic, and I will post it...It smells great! I am excited and proud of myself considering everything was working against me against for the help of my friends here..;-) I bet that if would of been hot and sunny both June, and July, I would of had the most beautiful flowers on more than just these.. Oh well, at least we know it is possible to grow them up here, even in our area,,YEAH! Even in New York..So, yes, don't give up as I almost did! You are right Andrew! What a cold wet summer, even at the end of summer now...No heat at all!! It has never been this cold for September! We got only two hot weeks this entire summer starting with May! You know what I did? I think if anyone in our area is to grow these, they really should invest in a portable greenhouse...Absolutely! The ones with inflos are in it, and they will still get the full sun they need, along with still hot temps, all the way till the end of October! No more worries about having to bring them in early. I keep the temps up in there on cloudy cool days and cold nights by using a portable heater.. It was 90 degrees in that greenhouse today,with the doors open and no heat on, all the while it was only 65 degrees outside all day today. I think they like that. I had another flower open for me today in there.. I got mine at Home Depot online. Goodluck with yours, and I don't bring mine in either until nights average in the 40's... Your plants will tell you by dropping their leaves. But the ones with inflos, in the greenhouse they go... As for storage, I store them in my basement with little lght and cool temps. I take all leafs off. I only water sightly once a month to avoid dehydration since our winters for storage are longer than the south. They all did fine but one last year. It got so dehyrated, it shriveled and died... Did'nt realize I was suppose to give them some water till someone pointed it out to me here.. Mike..:-)

Yes they are strictly indoors, it's too cold and rainy in washington for them. And I've never had this problem before, I sprouted these from seed 4 years ago. I think it was the soil, because I pulled one out to look at the rootball and the top 2 inches of soil were dry but everything under that was still moist and the roots were brown and rotten. So basically it retained moisture too long and that's why it rotted. I took most of the old soil off the rootball and replanted them into half cactus mix/ half foxfarm. They now look much better, no leaves have fallen off and they have new growth :)

Hello everyone, I have been reading these forums for a few months and have found lots of good information on my plumerias. I grew up with large plumerias in my front yard in SW Florida, and recently my mom brought me a few cuttings to root. I've lost about 5 of the cuttings to rot after I forgot to bring them in during a storm a few weeks back but have 9 more that seem to be doing fine. Only one has a leaf, but rest feel firm in the pots and the tips are shiny green. The stems are dehydrated so I've been misting them twice a day with water, superthrive and peroxide mixture. I tried the wet paper towel trick which seemed to help a little (wrap moist paper towel around the stalk). They are kept indoors currently in a room that stays around 70°. Any other suggestions on how to re-hydrate the cuttings without risking stem rot or destroying the roots? I also started plumeria seedlings which are doing well. I have 12 currently growing, some better then others and wanted to see if I should be doing anything else or different. Currently they re potted in clear 12 oz cups so I can see the roots develop, and are sitting under LED grow lights. Most seem to be growing under the LED's pretty well. I mist them daily with a combination of water, superthrive, peroxide, Dyna-Gro Foliage-Pro and Pro-Tekt. I only water when the soil is dry (use a moisture meter and can see soil in clear cups). I also recently put the seedlings on a heat mat. Soil mix is Miracle Grow Palm and Cactus mix. I've been thinking of adding BR-61 but I know its mainly used for a bloom booster. Any help or feedback that can be provided would be great.

Oh great...threads I took part in are now considered "old." Usually neem oil has been sufficient for control for me. I buy the concentrate and then use a pump sprayer to cover all surfaces.
