I've used neem oil in the past with success, but be forewarned it does cause photosensitivity. Another tip for even distribution, is to emulsify it in warm water really well before application.

I don't use neem oil anymore tho, I like Brand X foliage cleanser, which is a non-toxic preventative/eradicator that also happens to shine the leaves up really nice.

I'd think twice abt using these things indoors, especially preventitively. While I haven't used any of them, I suspect they're meant for outdoors.

IMO, better energy spent on good gardening practices overall (& hopefully, thereby prevention) & rigidly quarantining new acquisitions in ANOTHER ROOM.

Also who's to say they weren't already treated where you've bought them?

I'm someone who believes the less then better when it comes to chemicals, especially indoors (& I don't have pets or kids).

Thx Tawny, Yes, I can see it says Houseplants, but what it really says, verbatim is "Kills Houseplant Insects". The photo's glare obscures what MAY read use on Houseplants.

Sorry, but to me "Houseplants" can be either one. I'd be looking for the phrase for Indoor or Outdoor use.

The bottle states it can be used in greenhouses as well as outdoor/indoor plants. The main ingredient is mineral oil. Trust me, I'm very cautious with products as I have a child and 2 dogs in the house. My husband also works for Bayer in the Environmental Science division (I used too as well, that's how we met - more info than needed, lol) and knows about all the Bayer Advanced items. He looked at the stuff and while it only states mineral oil and nothing else, he said just make sure not to touch it until it dries. He said oil is used to smother/suffocate pests. He's always skeptical of organic products as to their efficacy. I always wear gloves when working with all my plants (my citrus trees make me itchy).

I'll just make sure to spray this stuff when I'm the only one home. Not sure if this stuff even works although I did buy it at a nursery store.

If it were me I would not use this indoors at all, ever. Bad idea (IMO), especially preventatively (it'd be different if you actually had the insects).

I've used neem oil inside...not bad but not great either...works in the same way by suffocating the bugs.I found it will burn my leaves on some hoyas that are close to the LED lights.The droplets amplify the light and it will leave a round scorched spot on the leaves,so I started using it at night,but is smells kinda funky.your product would take multiple applications to get rid of the tough bugs like scale and meallies.I had a very bad winter infestation last winter of scale,mealy and fungus gnats on many of my plants and had to use some heavy duty imidacloprid watered into the soil.Today...nothing not even a gnat!

That's what happened when I used neem oil, too. Even though I emulsified it really well and applied it when it was dark/the lights were out, my more delicate plants still got torched. And continued to get torched (!) until I washed the oil off, it was a total disaster.

I found a great houseplant big spray from brads green house on YouTube. It is 1 cup rubbing alcohol to 1 cup water and 1teaspoon dish soap. Put in spray bottle and spray down plants and let dry - do no wash off. This mix has worked well for me. Adding beneficial nematodes to the soil will take care of fungal gnats.
