R.I.P Little Discus
Comments (3)i agree with the above except for them being hard to keep. i 've never had an easier fish to take care of than the current crop i have now. i bought 5 from macs discus online two years ago and one died, i think the very large pleco i had sucked on him at night and killed it. i have one loner now and three that hang. the loner doesnt seem stressed out in fact for months he has been causing stress, if anything, as he attacks all the others. they are schooling fish and like an african, more fish means one is less likely to get picked on to the point of croaking off. these guys require very low ph and, like my clown loaches, the water never seems to be too low in the ph dept. my black ghost is spozed to like neutral ph but he gets along fine in the low ph. i change 12 gallons to 15 twice a week in my @50 gal tank. water changes are crucial. i feed them frozen blood worms and shrimp once a day before i go to bed and they really chow down and that seems to keep them happy. they have started eating the "sinking carnivour" tables from hakari or whoever that i try to get to the ghost. i guess, like the clown loaches, they would prefer to eat a little all thru the day but that's just too bad. i am going thru alot of $$ feeding them once a day. sorry the little guy croaked, get some more!...See MoreR22 to R410 replacing R22 copper
Comments (5)The last meeting i had with the manufactures they told me that no mater what you do it is hard to get the oil that is stuck to the inside of the lines, cleaned out of there. I think you can vacuum for hrs. and it won't take the old oil out. Just my opinion but i would never reuse the old R22 lines. Later paulbm...See MoreR410 Vs R22 humidity removal
Comments (5)I am not a PRO, but would like to throw out a comment or two. The ability of an a/c system to reduce humidity is dependent on the temperature of the evaporator (inside) coil. With the emphasis on 'higher SEER' (larger coils) these days, a higher SEER coil of the same capacity will have a higher (hotter) temperature, and thus will condense less water. Airflow is also a factor. Most units are run with an airflow of 400 CFM per ton. This will produce an expected degree of performance with respect to sensible (temperature you can feel) and latent (humidity) capacities (removal). Your home's heat gain profile may require more latent capacity than is being delivered. If so, the airflow can be adjusted (approx 350 CFM/T) to increase latent capacity. By the same token, some contractors may adjust the airflow higher (> 400 CFM/T) to achieve a higher SEER. In such a case, humidity removal will suffer. Five ton units have special needs with respect to return air. I will refrain from commenting on your situation. V...See MoreIs R19 or R11 insulation necessary for new home?
Comments (69)Owens Corning R-11 fiberglass batt Sound Barrier insulation is 3 1/2" thick but its up to the OP to tell us what the builder is offering. The company likes rockwool when greater density is desired but it makes it clear that greater density does not increase the STC rating of a partition wall. Assuming the company is not contradicting itself, I have to assume there are other uses for acoustic insulation where density matters. All I've ever said about these materials is that the STC rating difference in a partition cannot be measured. Worrying about the difference is making a mountain out of a mole hill. Talking about removing drywall to add rockwool later makes me think he may have lost his mind....See Morenicholsworth Z6 Indianapolis
