What can you tell me about Paul Barden roses?
Comments (5)I have Allegra and Jeri Jennings. They're both doing well for me. JJ is new in the garden but is very healthy and has put on decent growth for a first year band. Excellent repeat. I've got Joyce Barden on order. I can't wait to see this one blooming in my garden. There are lots of folks on this forum who are big fans of Paul's roses so I'm sure they will chime in soon....See MoreTell about your Carruth Roses
Comments (40)I admire Tom Carruth very much. He started out in a business that did not please his father, worked hard to find a way to go to college, gradually finding rosarians to learn from, becoming mentored by them when they saw his talent and passion, he never gave up and produced some of the world's most beautiful roses. I'm so glad he didn't just produce California zone roses. Most will grow where winters get cold. I have Outta The Blue and Wild Blue Yonder, which are similar; ruffly, romantic Love Song; Grand Dame with strong fragrance; Pink Home Run which is constantly covered in blooms and Watercolors Home Run. I wish I had chosen Julia Child instead of the Austin Golden Celebration, but maybe GC will improve with time. I was shocked with the bright orange buds of Cinco de Mayo since I don't have orange in my garden, but they open into the most gorgeous blooms in a range of subtle colors. Twilight Zone would be a good Cinco de Mayo companion. I miss going to The Huntington Rose Gardens where Mr. Carruth is curator since I moved to inland northeast WA. I'm looking forward to more of his introductions....See MoreTell about your Tantau roses
Comments (23)Tantau needs some kind of agent or distributor, which they could get, but for some reason choose not to. We've discussed this a lot on the forum, and I don't know what the latest news is, but it would seem that Tantau could make a tidy sum in the US/Canada rose market. I see I've posted some old photos of Augusta Luise, so here are some newer ones. She's my very favorite rose. Diane...See MoreNew Paul Barden Roses at Rogue Valley Roses
Comments (24)I am sitting here, trying to decipher YMMV?!?! Anyway, I might give it a try anyway. BS is a major problem in my garden. I don't spray w/big chem, but have had good results with finely ground cornmeal. Especially if I'm diligent. Dakota Redwing is such an appealing rose; I feel like I have to give it a try. Thanks for your honest input and I look forward to hearing about more of your work! Golden Buddha is the only rose in my garden that I want more than one of the plant. Wonderful, happy rose which delights me @ time I see it....See MoreJasminerose, California, USDA 9b/Sunset 18
