Question about crystal tree toppers (non-electric)

Anyone uses crystal/glass tree toppers for their xmas tree? My problem is that, when i put it on top, you actually don't really notice the tree topper as it does not light up, while the rest of the tree does.

It looks REALLY when i bought it from the store because it was shined directly from above with the recessed lightning. And it DOES look really nice when you hold it up close, but when its 9 feet in the air, and it has to compete against the lights that is already wrapped around on 95% of the tree....so you don't really "notice" the tree topper unless you really spend the effort to look up and down the tree. And even then, it doesn't really give off the "wow" factor that I was hoping for.

also The lights that I put around the tree's body is not exactly "bright enough" to make the tree topper shine as well and I don't have recessed lighting to shine directly from top. What do you guys suggest? Or is this the problemw tih non-electric tree topper? (and non-oversized tree topper) Thanks!

For example...
