Comments (5)Hi again Arif ....just thought i would mention that sometimes even if a bloom isnt particularly what you want the genetic opportunities that it might offer may be. I keep lots of daylilies not because they are perfect from the get go but because there may be a feature about that plant that could potentially lend its genes to the next generation . This is called a bridge plant . For example let's say i have one plant that isnt particularly spectacular bloom wise , however I keep it because it is tall , strong scaped, multibranching with a really good bud count . I use it to breed with because those are all traits that I want in my seedlings and so I use the pollen to pass on those traits to my seedlings. What I cross it with is what I use to try to put a pretty face on a good strong well branched high bud seedling .
